Our landlord's ewe recently gave birth to a lamb, and I pray for this new life to get through what humanity has in store for it.

Β  Β  Β Our landlord's sheep pen is a stone's throw from our apartment, so it's needless to say we hear a lot of bleating throughout our days. At times it can be distracting, but I try and constantly give thanks for the beauty of life even though it saddens me to see another sentient being in captivity and bondage.

Β  Β  Β The landlords kept the newborn lamb inside a small enclosure for the first three days to let their dogs get acquainted with it before letting it
come outside to explore.

Β  Β  Β On the first day out of the pen this little lamb stayed near its mama, and it was such an inspiring moment that I wanted to capture it in a series of photos.

12.JPG

Β  Β  Β Of course the @KidSisters were very interested in this new life, and Sakana enjoyed marveling at this new creature taking in its surroundings.

13.JPG

Β  Β  Β While I was watching this young lamb I couldn't help but think that its primary purpose is a food source for humans, and it made me wish I could speak "sheep" and tell this young lamb to make a break for it as soon as its able to graze independently.

Β  Β  Β Just as we humans are born into systems, borders, and laws which we had no say in, this lamb has a predestination assigned to it from birth, and for now it's blissfully unaware and simply teaching us how to apprecialove the simple things in this dispension.

17.JPG

Β  Β  Β It left me with this Midnite tune in my head, "Get Through" by Vaughn Benjamin, the wordsmith of conscious reggae music. The song's chorus is not too cryptic, but the song itself has a lot to decipher within, something I am still working on.

19.JPG

Β  Β  Β I do hope this young lamb can get through, and I hope it reaches inside to find a little bit of lion to manifest within also, as this is the duality of the Rastafari. I leave with a few lines from the chorus...

I hope seh' that you get through
I pray for you you get through
With nuff' peace and rescue

Just found out the other day that the owner is raising them just for fun, and has no intention to eat them. As an Italist, it's nice to know the lamb will not be dinner, but I also question the joy of keeping so many animals in captivity for no other purpose than pleasure. I would feel better knowing they will be eaten because at least it gives the captivity a purpose. I will never understand my fellow human beings. !ENGAGE 15

Just as we humans are born into systems, borders, and laws which we had no say in

This similarity is exactly what I was thinking about when reading this post. Some are lucky enough to escape (parts of) the system, but most are destined to be condemned by it.

There are some cows in our neighborhood and whenever they moo we say the people from NDP (previous political party) are yelling again.

I think we are often given the illusion of change too, when everything is predetermined at higher levels. In the United States, I noticed no real differences living as a manual laborer just above the poverty line under either politicial party. So far in Suriname I (as stranded migrants) I see no difference in our daily lives under the new party, but then again most of our problems have resulted from the Surinamese people, and not the government of Suriname. !ENGAGE 30

Political parties mostly only differ in tone, but actions taken are usually similar. Especially in countries where there is one bigger agenda backed by capitalists.

Very interesting way to highlight the topic about systems...
Some can do break free/away, but most are stuck in a system they are born into.

Too true. I can't stand that expression "We are all born equal." That is easy to say for a rich person with surrounded by everything they need. But we are born into citizenships, and many of us are born stateless, so I think that is far from being born equal.

We must become something we have never been and for which our education and experience and environment have ill-prepared us. !ENGAGE 15

I know what you mean... It's sad that people aren't as curious and I'm not sure if we can expect the rich to be emphatic to others who live otherwise. What struck me years ago and got me to believe that we indeed aren't all born equal, even if we're equal in the eyes of God.

It was this picture I was thinking of:

There were options where the lesson was broadened, but I kept it simple.

Give thanks @divinebeingness. Yes, I think history will remember elder Vaughn with the likes of Plato and Socrates, and I've spent years unraveling the conscious cryptic messages in his music. He truly is the wordsmith of our time, and we would be blessed to have his insight on current world events, but his work here was done and he ascended into the cosmos he so often sang about. !ENGAGE 15
