ANNOUNCEMENT POST - Hive Power Up Day, October 1st 2020

The occasion today causes for two celebrations. I feel October, 2020 will be an exciting month for me to venture into different aspects of the blockchain and and discover new opportunities.

LEVELING UP TO DOLPHIN STATUS

Screenshot_20201001 RE THE PIER The Gaugan IA Drawing Contest w short story Week 50 PeakD.png

Celebrations are in order today in my reaching a milestone of 5,000 HP and thus leveling up to Dolphin status. This event occurred immediately after I powered up. I was surprised because as soon as I powered up, I received my new Dolphin badge notice from @hivebuzz.

This is an achievement for me since observing my one year anniversary in July, albeit a small one on the Hive blockchain. I won't be all knowing nor all powerful in terms of Hive Power. I'll simply be one level up from a Minnow in the wide sea of other members on Hive.

What it does mean is that I'll be able to help a few more members new to Hive. That is a realistic, down to earth definition of a baby Dolphin. My Vote Value: .06 is still small as are my resource credits, but they're larger than when I started a year ago!

Also, I plan to locate Communities and give a small delegation to start. Last month I was invited to join a new Community named Ladies of Hive. It didn't take me long to realize this Community was awesome in their intentions on the Hive blockchain, so I delegated 100 HP to them.

HIVE POWER UP DAY

Screenshot_20201001 justclickindiva justclickindiva PeakD4.png

Today, on Hive Power Up Day for October 1, 2020, I powered up 870 Hive. The minimum amount to power up is 10 Hive; however, I decided to power up all my available liquid Hive from last month. Then, I received my notice from @hivebuzz that I complied with the minimum requirement.

The temporary badge I received with the question mark in the center denotes that I'll have to wait until the end of the Power Up Day today to find out the size of my Power Bee. I'm excited to see what badge I'll receive.

By powering up for October, I'm continuing to help keep the initiative alive that @streetstyle started. The ability to power up today is indeed something to celebrate. It doesn't matter how much you power up, as long as you're able to participate.

Remember, powering up your HIVE tokens give you special abilities on Hive for:

  • Greater voting power on content posts;
  • More curation rewards when you vote on other authors' posts;
  • More resource credits to perform transactions on Hive.

Thanks @traciyork for your announcement post for the OCTOBER 1st HIVE Power UP Day. I settled my account, and participated in the power up for today.

I created a simple table to show my balances on 10/1/2020:

HIVEHP
Beginning Balance870.004,475.431
Rewards Claimed+0.000+0.000
New Balance<870.00><4,475.431>
Powered Up-870.00+870.00
Current Balance05,345.431

First I captured a screenshot of my Wallet before I started my power up.

Next, I powered up my Hive and captured this step in a screen print. Below are the steps and proofs for my power up.

Finally, I took a screenshot of my current balances after powering up.

I'm thankful for the Hive Power Up Day initiative started by @streetstyle and now being administered by @traciyork in his absence. I enjoy participating each month. I plan to spend my day reviewing delegations and deciding how much more I can assist new accounts on Hive.

Happy Power UP day today everyone! See you in November.

The amount of self-control required to save 870 liquid Hive is commendable. My hands would be itching to power each claim up immediately. Or buy some Hive-Engine assets. Or some other cryptocurrency.

Congrats on becoming one with one of the smartest and most majestic creatures. 😁

Haha...That's me, self-control. I'm used to it after several months of powering up. I'm still hanging on to HBD waiting for the price to go down even farther. Just when I'm tempted to convert, the price rises. Shoot...

My daughter told me to stock up on crypto. I'm nervous, need to take it slow, but will take a look.

Thanks for visiting. I'm just a baby, so I haven't learned the ropes yet. I appreciate your support. Take care, have a great rest of your week and weekend, and stay safe.

The crypto learning curve can be intimidating, but once you're in the eye of the storm, things start making sense fairly quick. As long as you don't lose any private keys, you should be good.

I also started saving HBD, about 2 days ago. 😂 Because Hive is looking like it wants to go to 10 cents for a period.

Have a great weekend back at ya. Stay safe. ✌️

Wow, that's beast mode level power up! Awesome stuff @justclickindiva and welcome to Dolphinhood! You got there quicker than me, took me at least 18 months I think to get to that! You may want to join the Dolphin Assemble community as well - can't remember who set it up now or if it's still active though!

Thanks so much for your kind words and support. I appreciate it. Yes, I feel like I have been blessed in my Hive journey this past year. Since I started on Steem, after the break away and we received our mirror account, I'm no longer active there, so I just powered down. That helped me a lot. Only focusing on Hive right now.

Have a great weekend and thanks for the advice about that Dolphin Community.

I think a lot of people have done the same that were on Steem previously. I know I did a bit of moving over, and with BLURT too, nice extra addition to the HIVE stack!

Oh, I forgot about BLURT. I logged in once to see what I actually received, but never been back. I'll need to return to it and see how I can move it since I don't anticipate being active. I can hardly keep up with Hive.

Yeah I started powering down BLURT straight away as there's no way I can be active on all these sites. Like you, I struggle to keep up with Hive at the best of times! It's pretty straight forward to do via ionomy exchange if you're savvy there. Otherwise I think @steevc has done it an even simpler way. There's a swap app or something but he'll be better placed to tell you as he's used it before and shared on a post.

There's the blurtlink service, but I heard of someone having issues with it this week. It was convenient.

Ha, I hadn't even heard of that one either! I thought you said there was some other thing unless I'm getting confused with the steem swap... So many things at the moment, can't keep up with it all!

Thanks for replying with the blurtlink!

The only other way I moved BLURT was via Ionomy. swap.app does not seem to operate there. I can see some people milking Blurt whilst they can, but I wonder if it has any future.

Yeah I've been going the ionomy route with all my Blurt powerdowns. I just can't be active on all these sites so just focusing on what I can and not really sure what vision there is for Blurt, who's developing it etc?

I monitored my post engagement (comments and rewards mostly) as I posted on both steem and hive for the first month (I wasn't really sure what to do) but the picture became obvious as I had 0 comments on Steem and everything was on Hive so a no brainer. Then blurt magically popped up, apparently Zapata is on the way as well! Forkin' 'ell!

Zapata? Not heard of that. Blurt is trying to satisfy those who don't like downvotes, but I'm not sure they are that big a deal. I just had my first in a while from a minor abuser who holds a grudge. Hive works pretty well, but we may see more tweaks.

Yeah apparently Zapata might be an equivalent Instagram tied with Blurt but the waters are getting a little muddy on that. Think it's part of the same team but not sure. Whaleshares was a good indication of what happens with no downvotes so I'm surprised they went that route. If you post your own content and don't plagiarise etc then you're pretty set here!

I'm sure there will be more tweaks, I'm expecting either at HF25 or 26 at the latest, the HIVE rewards pool as we know it will go and it will be up to 2nd layer tokens, a bit like LEO is doing now, to grow and expand their own tokens. HIVE will probably just be used for governance, witness voting and staking rewards with the blockchain itself marketed as a place for developers to build on (gaming), then those dapps to provide their own 2nd layer.

What do you think? Am I well off the mark here? 😄

I really don't know. A lot of people are confused by all these other tokens and as they are not actual SMTs they are not as secure as they should be (I think). I think it is best to keep things simple. Games may want to use their own tokens, but if you are just blogging you shouldn't have to care. The whole economics thing is beyond me.

0

avatar

Yeah ditto on the confusion! SMTs, I suspect, will be looked at more in HF 25 and probably rolled out then as I think there was a LOT of continual testing but never materialised for a variety of reasons and then Hive Hard Forked.

SMTs would be connected to the Hive blockchain and so would be more secure in the sense in you wouldn't have to rely on 3rd party or custom jsons like on Hive-Engine. However, the speed of development may not be as fast. I seem to remember exyle doing a great tutorial of it back in the day.

To be honest, as a blogger and music producer primarily, it's hard enough to get my head around the DAW, let along blockchain tech and economics 😂

Thank you so much for you support. I held on to my HBD all month and converted it when the exchange was 6 to 1.

Congrats on your power up. It doesn't matter how much you power up, you participated and contributed to the overall initiative. Plus, you have a bit more to work with while engaging on Hive.

Take care, and have a nice weekend.

Congratulations @justclickindiva 5000 HP seems a long way for me as I'm taking the slow scenic route there by my posting no more than twice a week. I'm at 3k HP and UV at sub-dust again. 😏 Good thing we got dustsweeper! My goal is UVing 0.03 at 100%!

Thank you so much for stopping by and help me celebrate my achievement. It's not so long away as you think. Once I had to take it slow and was only posting at least 3 times a week.

My vote is only .055, so it's not that large. I just try to locate posts I really like and I think deserve my 100%. Then others I vote at 20% so I can spread more love.

I never imagined I could achieve Dolphin in one year. However, I started in Steem. When the breakup occurred, we all had mirror accounts, so twice the Hive Power. That's how many former steemiams are able to power up a lot of HP by powering down from the other platform. It was a long road on steem to earn all we did.

Now we can enjoy bringing it over to Hive. The decision to go with Hive exclusively and not be active on steem is a personal one to each former member. I can barely keep up with Hive, so I decided to just stick with one platform for now.

I'm back up to posting at least 5 days a week and give myself a break away from the computer for offline life.

Who knows what the future holds. Good luck to you in your journey on Hive and hope to engage with you again soon. Take care and have a good weekend.
