On the other hand, the act of knitting fosters in me self-control, determination and patience, fundamental qualities that I want to be present in my character, and thus develop my spiritual side to be in perfect harmony with my heart, thoughts and actions.

Mencionó el Maestro espiritual Sai Baba en uno de mis libros favoritos, el libro Prema Yoga Vahini, "Entre las cualidades que hacen intachable a un carácter, las del amor, paciencia, autocontrol, firmeza y caridad son las más elevadas y tienen que ser reverenciadas"

Me encanta tejer, por diversos motivos, me entretiene, me permite hacer regalo a mis seres queridos, me genera ingreso económico; sin embargo para mí lo más valioso de tejer, es que me mantiene en sintonía con esa parte creativa que vive en mi.

Por otro lado, el acto de tejer fomenta en mí el autocontrol, la determinación y la paciencia, cualidades fundamentales que quiero estén presentes en mi carácter, y así ir desarrollando mi parte espiritual para estar en perfecta armonía con mi corazón, pensamientos y acciones.

Why you chose the project?

I have decided to weave a cluth (bag) in the Wayuu technique, an emblematic technique of the indigenous people of an area of Venezuela. Here is what motivated me to weave this project:

• I love what these indigenous women are inspired to weave, they are inspired by Nature, its colors and shapes.
• I like this technique because of how resistant the weavings are, and when I want to make a bag, I need it to be resistant enough.
• To share with you what an indigenous woman taught me to weave.
• Continue to develop patience.

¿Por qué he elegido este proyecto?

He decido tejer un cluth (bolso) en la técnica Wayuu, técnica emblemática de indígenas de una zona de Venezuela. A continuación lo qué me motivó a tejer este proyecto:

• Amo en lo que se inspiran estas mujeres indígenas para tejer, se inspiran en la Naturaleza, en sus colores y formas.
• Me gusta esta técnica por lo resistente que quedan los tejidos, y al querer elaborar un bolso, necesito que sea lo suficientemente resistente.
• Compartir con uds lo que me enseño a tejer una indígena.
• Continuar desarrollando paciencia.

Project execution / Ejecución del proyecto

DAY 0 / DÍA 0

How did the project start?

I work as a Project Manager in a technology company, so the word project is very familiar to me, when I read the invitation to the challenge that made us the #OCD Community, after reading the conditions, I notice that the duration for a result is two weeks, I had already identified the project, by that time it was a Wayuu bag, I made a small chronogram of activities to determine if the project I had proposed could be completed in two weeks, after having made the chronogram, I detected that I could not complete the bag in the indicated time, I even considered three scenarios, realistic, pessimistic and optimistic, the optimistic one had a duration of three weeks.

As I wanted to weave a bag in the Wayuu technique, what I did was to change the project to a smaller bag, I updated the duration in hours of the activities, since for the big or small bag the activities were still the same, I also considered the three scenarios, optimistic, realistic and pessimistic; the optimistic scenario had a duration of seven days.

Finally, I evaluated the risks of the project and decided on the optimistic scenario.

¿Cómo inició el proyecto?

Me desempeño como Project Manager en una empresa de tecnología, por lo cual la palabra proyecto me es muy familiar, al leer la invitación al reto que nos hizo la Comunidad #OCD, luego de leer las condiciones, noto que la duración para un resultado es de dos semanas, ya había identificado el proyecto, para ese momento era un bolso Wayuu, me hice un pequeño cronograma de actividades para determinar si el proyecto que me había planteado podría ser completado en dos semanas, luego de haber hecho el cronograma, detecto que no podré completar el bolso en el tiempo indicado, inclusive me planteé tres escenarios, realista, pesimista y optimista, el optimista tenía una duración de tres semanas.

Como quería tejer un bolso en la técnica Wayuu, lo que hice fue cambiar de proyecto a un bolso más pequeño, actualicé la duración en horas de las actividades, ya que para el bolso grande o pequeño las actividades seguían siendo las mismas, igualmente me planteé los tres escenarios, optimista, realista y pesimista; el escenario optimista tenía una duración de siete días

Finalmente, evalué los riesgos del proyecto y me decidí por el escenario optimista.

Select yarn / Seleccionar el hilo

I love this part of the projects, I pulled out all the acrylic threads I have and laid them out on my bed to decide what colors my design was going to take. Initially I thought of making the bag with an elephant motif with some landscape. Then a sun as the ultimate representation of nature.
I decided on a sun in the center and then put some color.
I made a pom-pom and three tassels. I placed the tassels on top of each other and then attached the pom-pom.

Amo esta parte de los proyectos, saqué todos los hilos acrílicos que tengo y los coloqué en mi cama para decidir cuáles colores iba a llevar mi diseño. Inicialmente pensé en hacer el bolso con un motivo de elefante con algo de paisaje. Luego un sol como representación máxima de la naturaleza. Me decidí por un Sol en el centro y luego le coloco algo de color.

At that time I was not so sure about the motif I was going to knit, but I did select the colors.

Para ese momento no estaba tan convenida del motivo que iba a tejer, sin embargo seleccioné los colores.

Even though I had supposedly selected the yarn colors I was going to knit with, I kept thinking about the motif I was going to knit and the challenge question "how does the project speak of your character". Finally, the perfect motif came to me, I would knit the representation of a rainbow, making this decision produced in me an indescribable joy. So I searched for the yarns to select the colors of the rainbow, purple, indigo, blue, yellow, orange and red.

Aunque supuestamente había seleccionado los colores de hilo con los que iba a tejer, seguía pensando en el motivo que iba a tejer y en la pregunta del reto "cómo habla el proyecto de tu carácter". Finalmente, llegó a mi el motivo perfecto, tejería la representación de un arcoíris, tomar esta decisión produjo en mí una alegría indescriptible. Así que busqué los hilos para seleccionar los colores del arcoíris, morado, índigo, azul, amarillo, naranja y rojo.

DAY 1 / DÍA 1

Preparing what is required to start weaving / Preparando lo requerido para comenzar a tejer

Comment, to knit this project you must use seven colors of yarn. At the time of weaving, four strands of yarn are used at a time, represented in four different colors, this is quite a challenge, keeping the yarns separated is almost impossible, more if you can minimize it. To minimize tangling, I took a basket and attached four dot maker with plastic tape.

Comentar, para tejer este proyecto se deben usar siete colores de hilos. Para el momento de tejer, se usan cuatro hebra de hilo a la vez, representadas en cuatro colores diferentes, esto es todo un reto, mantener los hilos separados es casi imposible, más si se puede minimizar. Para minimizar el enredo, tomé una cesta y fije con cinta plástica cuatro marcadores de puntos.

I then passed each strand of yarn through a different dot maker. With those four colors of yarn the knitting of the bag would begin.

Luego pasé cada hebra de hilo por un marcador de puntos diferente. Con esos cuatro colores de hilo se iniciaría el tejido del bolso.

Starting to knit / Comenzar a tejer

Start knitting in purple a magic ring of 8 single crochet stitches. This project will be knit in a spiral. At the beginning of the second round, incorporate the other three colors, indigo, blue and green, knit 1 increase of purple single crochet in each stitch of the previous round embracing with the half stitch the three incorporated strands. It is important to adjust the knitting well.

Note: The increases are made in each round in the same way as when knitting a cap or an amigurrumi head. In this project only increases are made.

Iniciar a tejer en color morado un anillo mágico de 8 puntos bajos. Este proyecto se va tejer en espiral. Al iniciar la segunda ronda, incorporar los otros tres colores, índigo, azul y verde, tejer 1 aumento de puntos bajos en color morado en cada punto de la ronda anterior abrazando con el medio punto las tres hebras incorporadas. Es importante, ajustar bien el tejido.

Nota: Los aumentos se dan en cada ronda de manera análoga a como cuando se teje un gorro o una cabeza de amigurrumi. En este proyecto solo se realizan aumentos.

Change from purple to blue, in this stitch you will knit the low stitches in blue, the purple strand will be in the group of the three strands.

Cambia de color morado a azul, en este punto se va tejer los puntos bajos en color azul, la hebra morada pasa a estar en el grupo de los tres hilos.

Continue to move forward with the fabric, as you can see in the images green and yellow have been incorporated.

DAYS / DÍAS 2, 3 y 4

These days I knitted with the colors yellow and orange. In yellow color you can visualize a representation of the Sun.

En estos días tejí con los colores amarillo y anaranjado. En color amarillo se puede visualizar una representación del Sol.

DAY 5 / DÍA 5

It corresponded to the red color, with this color we finish weaving what will be the bag.

Le correspondió al color rojo, con este color se termina de tejer lo que será el bolso.

After cutting and hide the threads. It is folded in half. By the way, the diameter of the bag is 25 centimeters.

Luego de cortar y esconder los hilos. Se dobla a la mitad. Por cierto, el diámetro del bolso es de 25 centímetros

DAY 6 / DÍA 6

Lining the bag / Forrando el bolso.

All the weaving tasks associated with this project have important challenges, for me the biggest challenge was to make the lining and glue the zipper.

I like the projects to have good finishes, so every day I am looking to improve my techniques. These weavings in the Wayuu technique are so resistant and visually reflect the same to the side that will be seen that they do not need to be lined, however I wanted to line it.

I cut a piece of fabric for lining with about two centimeters more than the base of the bag. I fixed it with pins, and sewed. I also took the opportunity to sew the zipper.

Todas las tareas de tejidos asociadas a este proyecto tienen retos importantes, para mí el mayor reto, fue realizar el forro y pegar el cierre.

Me gustan que los proyectos tengan buenos acabados, por ello cada día estoy pendiente de mejorar mis técnicas. Estos tejidos en la técnica Wayuu son tan resistentes y visualmente se reflejan igual al lado que se va ver que no requieren ser forrados, sin embargo quise forrarlo.

Corté una pieza en tela para forrar con unos dos centímetros más de la base del bolso. Fijé con alfileres, y fui cosiendo. también aproveché de coser el cierre.

DAY 7 / DÍA 7

Relization of the bag pull / Realización del tiro del bolso

With a few strands of yarn and a Wayuu weaving technique related to cords, I wove a 140 centimeter throw for the bag.

Con unas cuantas hebras de hilo y una técnica de tejido Wayuu relacionada a los cordones, tejí un tiro para el bolso de 140 centímetros.

Tassels and pom-poms

I made a pom-pom and three tassels. I placed the tassels on top of each other and then attached the pom-pom.

Realicé un pom-pom y tres borlas. Las borlas las coloqué una arriba de la otra para luego unir la pom-pom.

Project completed / Proyecto completado

After completing the corresponding sequence I made a beautiful bag in vibrant colors. It is a laborious and patient project, but as it was taking shape, I felt very happy. I feel represented in this result, because I feel happy to have

• I had the determination to finish it in the time I had planned.
• Developed patience, the tangle of threads that arose when I was weaving the cord and the bag were strong. For example, the codon had 32 strands of threads of 3 meters each, when the thread tangled, I took a deep breath, continued and enjoyed; and so I went or got up looked at the sky from the balcony and came back.

So I can conclude that we carry our character everywhere, it is our companion, the various actions we perform daily are impregnated with our character. Let us develop love, compassion, patience, charity, which are qualities of character, through the practice of good habits.

I heartily thank the #OCD Community for this invitation which allowed me to introspect within myself. which has unimaginable value in my life process.

Luego de haber completado la secuencia correspondiente he realizado un hermoso bolso en colores vibrantes . Es un proyecto laborioso y de paciencia, pero a medida que se iba formando, me sentía muy alegre. Me siento representada en este resultado, porque me siento feliz de haber

• Tenido la determinación de haberlo terminado en el tiempo planteado
• Desarrollado paciencia, el enredo de hilos que se presentaron cuando tejía el cordón y el bolso fueron fuertes. Por ejemplo, el codón tenía 32 hebras de hilos de 3 metros cada uno, cuando se enredaba el hilo, respiraba profundo, seguía y disfrutaba; y así iba o me levantaba miraba el cielo desde el balcón y volvía.

Así que puedo concluir que llevamos el carácter a todos lados, es nuestra compañía, las diversas acciones que realizamos diariamente van impregnadas de nuestro carácter. Desarrollemos el amor, la compasión, la paciencia, la caridad, que son cualidades del carácter, a través de la practica de buenos hábitos.

Agradezco de corazón a la Comunidad #OCD por esta invitación que me permitió hacer una introspección dentro de mí. lo cual tiene un valor inimaginable en mi proceso de vida.
