Hace unas horas leí una noticia que me impactó y emocionó mucho por las implicaciones sociales que tiene, además de demostrar una vez más las potencialidades que tiene el uso de la blockchain.

El artículo reseña que el exjugador de béisbol de los Tampas Bay Rays, Micah Johnson, aprovechando el auge de los tokens no fungibles (NFTs) y su aplicación al arte, creó un criptocoleccionable muy particular, que va a permitir a sus poseedores poder dar sus aportes en BTC, para ayudar a que dos niños del África pueden alcanzar sus sueños (para más información puedes ampliar la noticia aquí)

A few hours ago I read a news item that shocked and excited me a lot because of the social implications it has, besides demonstrating once again the potential of the use of the blockchain.

The article reviews that the former baseball player of the Tampas Bay Rays, Micah Johnson, taking advantage of the boom of non-expendable tokens (NFTs) and their application to art, created a very particular crypto-collectable, which will allow its owners to give their contributions to BTC, to help two children in Africa to achieve their dreams (for more information you can read the news here)

Lo que quiero destacar aquí es la aplicación económico-social de la blockchain y las criptomonedas, pues, primero, estos niños no necesitan tener una cuenta bancaria para recibir su ayuda y, en segundo lugar, es una forma de mostrar los beneficios del nuevo cripto-mercado, cuando lo miramos de una manera amplia, es decir, considerando sus diversas aplicaciones, además de las tradicionales.

En efecto, no sólo por medio de la creación de un NFT se puede trabajar en el desarrollo de obras sociales construidas sobre la blockchain, como el reseñado en la noticia traída a colación; sólo el hecho de realizar una transacción a un billetera criptográfica con el fin de ayudar a una causa, ya se está realizando.

El caso más común que tenemos es, quizá, el envío de remesas a países con economía emergentes, pero hay muchos más. Una vez, por ejemplo, escuché de una fundación que en un estadio de fútbol estaba pidiendo una donación, para la cual sólo mostraban el código QR de la billetera que iba a ser destinada a ese uso; con lo cual, el donante, con sólo escanearla, podía ya está dispuesto a realizarla.

What I want to highlight here is the economic-social application of the blockchain and crypto-currencies, because, first, these children do not need to have a bank account to receive their help and, secondly, it is a way of showing the benefits of the new crypto-market, when we look at it in a broad way, that is, considering its various applications, in addition to the traditional ones.

Indeed, it is not only through the creation of a NFT that we can work on the development of social works built on the blockchain, such as the one described in the news brought up; just the fact of making a transaction to a cryptographic wallet in order to help a cause, is already being done.

The most common case we have is, perhaps, sending remittances to countries with emerging economies, but there are many more. Once, for example, I heard about a foundation that was asking for a donation in a soccer stadium, for which they only showed the QR code of the wallet that was going to be used for that purpose; so, the donor, just by scanning it, was already willing to make it.

La otra cosa que es interesante es que, no olvidemos que en la blockchain todo queda registrado, de allí que, las potenciales ayudas sociales quedan blindadas con total seguridad, lo cual genera más transparencia y, por ende, mayor confianza.

Así pues, me parece importante que en este auge de la blockchain y todo lo relacionado a ella resaltar esta posibilidad que tenemos y que toca la sensibilidad social del ser humano, pues, no somos seres aislados sino que estamos en un mundo donde podemos darnos la mano mutuamente a través de la práctica de valores tan nobles como la solidaridad, espero que la noticia que les he presentado sea un ejemplo de eso.

The other thing that is interesting is that, let's not forget that in the blockchain everything is registered, hence, the potential social aids are shielded with total security, which generates more transparency and, therefore, more confidence.

So, I think it is important that in this boom of the blockchain and everything related to it, we highlight this possibility we have and that touches the social sensitivity of the human being, because we are not isolated beings but we are in a world where we can shake hands with each other through the practice of such noble values as solidarity, I hope that the news I have presented to you is an example of that.
