NPFL MATCHDAY 6 ANALYSIS: KANO PILLARS VS RIVERS UNITED. Can the Pride of Rivers get themselves back to the top of the NPFL table?
I believe many of my esteemed readers will be highly suprised about my choice of article for today amidst loads of amazing games going down in the EPL, with the major one being Chelsea vs Wolverhampton Wanderers, with the former taking part in their first game after the sack of their beloved manager, Frank Lampard,. Well, I believe this is the least I could do for my beloved country considering the loads of saddening events happening at the moment, and I also know how powerful sports, football in particular, could bring unity and peace between different clashing ethnic groups in my country for a brief period of 90 minutes of which the game is played. Hopefully, I believe things will work out well in the nearest future.
Going straight to today's game between Kano Pillars and Rivers United, hmm, this is definitely going to be a mouth watering match considering the fact that both teams know how hugely important a win is of utmost importance in this game. The Sai Masu Gida of Kano state are presently in 10th position with 8 points, but a win for them today could take them as high as 4th position, a pleasing leap you want to say. The Pride of Rivers on the other hand will be looking to get back to 1st position, a position which have been theirs for some week now, but was taken from them by another impressive side, Nasarawa United, although the latter have played a game more.
Picking a side in this game will definitely be an extremely difficult task for me, but I will be dropping some stats that favours both teams getting a win in this contest, you can then pick which ever team you think will take the day.
In no particular order, I will be going first with the home team:
- KANO PILLARS:
Although the Sai Masu Gida of Kano state have not been impressive against the Pride of Rivers in their last 8 meetings, losing 3, winning 2, and managing 3 draws, they have been able to make the Sanni Abacha stadium a fortress for themselves, avoiding defeat in all 4 out of these 8 meetings with 2 wins and 2 draws in their favour.
To further complement this fact, all 2 of their victories this season have being at this very fortress, chipping in 3 goals and conceding none. Rivers United are definitely in for a huge task this time you want to say. . - RIVERS UNITED:
Arguably the best team in the NPFL this season based on their impressive performance with 4 wins out of 5, 8 goals forward, and 2 against, I can bet many teams will prefer to avoid this impressive side at the moment, Kano Pillars inclusive. Not to forget that if we are to compare the overall league performance of both sides playing today, Kano Pillars are way behind the Pride of Rivers. Definitely, the Sai Masu Gida of Kano states know they have also got an uphill task if they want to get a win over Rivers United.
However, one daint to Rivers United claiming a full point with regards to this stat is there stunning 1 nill loss to Wikki Tourists away from home, I bet Kano Pillars will be looking to get a repeat of this.
On a final note, I will not be suprised if this game ends in a draw combining the stats favoring both sides, Kano Pillars' outstanding home performance and Rivers United's impressive overall performance. However, one thing I can be very certain of is that we will be getting an entertaining game.
