FIVE THINGS I QUIT DOING WHEN I SWITCHED TO HIVE
Next month would have been my four year anniversary on Steemit. Except that I quit using it the day of the hardfork.
We can choose to jump about in dog shit and then complain that our shoes stink, or we can look at stuff we like better than dog shit instead. Yesterday I was chilling out and taking photos at the waterfront (Wellington, New Zealand). I might do a post about that too, but here is one photo to spice this geeky little post up a bit.
I learned a lot on Steemit, including what not to do. Here are five things I gave up doing when I started out on Hive because each one of them is a part of what buggered Steemit.
- ARGUING WITH CLUELESS FUCKERS. I understand now that arguing on the internet is like seeing some dog shit and choosing to stand in it rather than stepping over it. So I stopped doing that.
- BEING A DICKHEAD. If someone I follow posts something I think is bollocks, rather than trying to "educate" them, I now choose to shut my pie hole and let them be.
- USING MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS. I had accounts for posting, accounts for trading liquid Steem, accounts for being a dickhead, and accounts that were blacklisted for trying to educate whales. It was bloody confusing. Yes I do still have all those accounts on Hive, but now they are all powered down and all my investment and attention is in this one.
- KEEPING MY INVESTMENT LIQUID. Steemit was a very dodgy investment, so from 2018 I kept most of my Steem liquid and had very little long term investment in the platform. On Hive I'm doing my best to be an investor and curator as well as a content creator. So I'm taking a much more committed approach to Hive - I'm invested in the platform and doing my best to help it grow.
- LONGING FOR THE GLORIOUS PAST ON STEEMIT. Back in 2016 and 2017 we did some cool posts and made some good wedge, but these days I'm fully powered down, and I don't speak Korean, so there is no reason for me to ever look at Steemit again. My old posts are all on there, and I still have a bunch of accounts on there I don't use. None of that is worth a look. If people want to double post and still use the old platform, it's beyond me why, but I don't care, and won't be sneaking a look. That site is ancient history and I'm very glad to move on.
The very next day it was much better and there was little fluffy clouds. Remember little fluffy clouds? Back in 1990 the music was awesome. But all things keep moving along. Watch out for dog shit!

Dear new member of HIVE, you have made a big mistake by signing up here. Here on this Blockchain you are surrounded by abuse of power and the greed of some who determine what happens here.
If you publish here, make sure that you publish only what is beneficial to the owners of the assets on HIVE. You must never express your own opinion or criticize anyone. If you do, the powerful will destroy your account and take every cent from you.
You will soon find out that you only earn a few cents here. Others, on the other hand, sometimes get extremely rich. Look around, you'll soon find that some people get 2 or even 3 digit $ amounts for small contributions, but you don't even get 50 cents.
Here's an example of a witness with his powerful friends called @pfunk destroying a small account of a non-profit organization and destroying all donations. He has disadvantaged and socially weak handicapped persons, seniors but also people who raise a child alone, harmed very much. Surely you do not want to support such a block chain that allows such a thing. Do you? In the contributions all data, inclusive registration with the court - address and further data are listed. You see this is an official charity.

At the beginning of July Voice ( voice.com ) will end its beta phase and be available worldwide. There will be no powerholders like here. A capital of 150 million US $ was made available there. I think this system will be very successful.
With these comments, I welcome every new member on HIVE. I have access to hundreds of accounts and you can't turn that off.

Little fluffy clouds. Experimental mixes were a sign of the late 80s and 90s. They were played on the radio and the dance floor. Somehow they changed to crap somewhere in the 2000s.
Things change. However, New Zealand looks awesome even on a crappy day.
I strongly agree with #4. You are doing great with curation^^ and liquid will be necessary at times like when there is a price spike.
I learned that I everybody says "Steem will moon" and "power up" doesn't mean we have to do it. I felt good posting in Hive.

100 days of shopping. Tell Steemit where you go and what you buy and show them a receipt and they will give you an upvote. This makes me tremble. The dilemma I have is I'm in the business of ESL (that's where my pay check comes from) and this (Korean and China) is the audience and they are my neighbors.
On the other hand Hive is my friends and the people I follow. I like what they produce and I follow their rational even if my beliefs are different. At least Hivers have an opinion. I wonder what Dlive looks like since they joined Steem again?
The bottom line is Steem is no where near decentralized and it should be called Stream because they system is aligned in one direction. Hive has a whales but they are working at improving the apps and user interface and promoting Hive in an effective way. Steem is kind of stuck at getting people to post and interact with each other.
In the long run I don't see much of a future for a centralized block chain social network, but in the time being it wouldn't hurt to meet my neighbors and get rewarded for it.

Ironically after doing a post saying I never looked at Steemit anymore, because of this interaction I went had had a quick look at what is being posted, translating a few posts with google translator - and holy crap, the site is not only Korean, it's a Korean garbage dump. I am gobsmacked by how far down the shitter the platform has gone in only three months!

Steem pisses me off. Everybody there is catching $10 to $30 payouts for total shitposts. I'm trying my hardest and I can't even make 50 cents. Not that Hive is any better for me, but it just makes me mad to see all the money flying around, to everybody except me. (Conspiracies and cannabis are both heavily stigmatized topics even in 2020.)
