Vlog 449: Communities are finally coming to Steem!

(Edited)

I was looking forward to @roadscape's presentation yesterday and it didn't disappoint.

Moderated communities are coming to Steemit/Steempeak/eSTEEM and they will only cost 3 STEEM to make.

This should increase engagement and content discovery a lot!

I talk about it and more in my vlog.

Some screenshots from @roadscape's presentation.

Posting in a community will not put a post on your blog. You will have to resteem it. Rewards will go to you though, but beneficiaries can be set by the community admin.

Creating a community will cost 3 STEEM and can be done with a few clicks.

A community with 3 posts and on the right the leadership of the community.

Setting Roles to accounts names within a community is very easy.

Even the pricing schedule on SE-NFTs; fascinating. A year from now this entire thing is going to be unrecognisable.

It's extremely fascinating. So many people working on awesome things and many changes will come. This place will indeed no longer be the same.

Very cool. I am still going to have to actually see it in front of me before I understand it all. It sounds like it is going to be pretty exciting though! There are aspects I am still struggling to wrap my head around. I like the idea that you will have to resteem posts for them to how on your blog. I am not sure how relevant our blogs are going to be moving forward though!

I am excited about having communities on platform and not needing to go to Discord for them!

We saw a lot of positive things happening over the past year but 2020 is going to be massive. Hopefully we can see a price rise by the summer which should peak interest in crypto again and get fresh eyes on STEEM. That combined with some good marketing and a better onboarding / user experience would be massive.

That's amazing progress and easy to create a community.

100% agree with your thoughts on the bear market. We need much longer. But I also feel that the next bubble will be so big that the whole world will be shocked, and it will be the fastest transition of wealth ever seen.

One question that I have with the communities, that hasn't been asked as far as I know...

Can external - non members - of the community, down vote posts, within the community?

If they cannot, great, but if they can -then nothing had fundamentally changed, with the achilles heel of the Steem system. ( as I can see it, anyways).

The power dynamics will still reside in the DPOS hierarchy that we currently have.
I'm not saying that is wrong or right - just saying that is the system we have....so will communities disrupt that power structure by not allowing players into their communities?

Do you know?

Cheers for any insights.
