Call To Action! - I Need Help Mobilizing Users To Vote Leofinance Witness

If I tell you I'm disappointed at this point, that's an understatement. This is my second or third post about the matter and I'm not the only one trying to raise awareness, there's been at least three or four users besides me and that is only that I know.

Leofinance is the most active community, stats can testify that if you don't believe me. Everyone and their cousin is excited to be here, there's a huge trust in LEO token, and yet I see no progress at all.

Leofinance witness is still 32, hasn't moved one bit, not one inch! I'm trying to figure out why but can't find any explanation. Ignorance, indifference? It is clear that posting about it won't change anything, people will look past these posts and continue their journey.

For those of you who don't know how to vote witnesses, here's a tutorial.

This post was written two months ago, when Leofinance was 33 on the list, now it's on 32.

What To Do?

It is obvious we need a different approach here as posting about it has no results. The good old door knocking is the only option we have here.

Here's the plan:

  • talk to users you know, remind them of witness voting,
  • offer help to those who don't know how/why vote for witnesses,
  • don't spam and don't hares anyone, voting for witnesses is not mandatory.

So who's in? Can we do this together to help Leofinance Witness move on the list up to be in the first 20? @filotasriza3, can I count on you?

I am not sure why the ranking has not improved. I have voted @leofinance. I wish there was an option where I could vote multiple times to the same witness.

I've voted for LeoFinance I have also asked myself many times: Why LeoFinance is not in Top-20?
The answer is simple: many huge accounts don't use LeoFinance. These accounts vote for their witnesses.

I've looked at some of my following and followers and just scanned some of their witness votes. It's sad to say that many don't use all 30 votes! I will take a look at my votes and see who I can remove if I'm not already voted for Leo.

I think if we eventually get the decaying witness votes functionality, that will be a huge help to get rid of these old votes that don't do anything except keep people in place that don't deserve to be there.

Blocktrades has said his team is playing around with the functionality and the next fork is planned for mid summer I believe.

I was doing the witness thing regardless of this post here, a few weeks ago. It was an interesting thing to see!

I haven't noticed the posts about witnesses before to be honest. Maybe I have a blind spot for it. I did happen to check my witness votes a couple of days ago though. I was using a tool looking for something else and checked my witness votes out of curiosity more than anything else. I voted for LEO and changed a couple of others.

I removed a load of votes for inactive witnesses a couple of months after the hardfork and haven't visited it since.

I feel pretty out of touch with who's doing what nowadays.

We can't know exactly who's doing what but there are witnesses constantly posting about their work. At least we know of those.

Plus deactivated witnesses can be checked.

erm... again... what's the rush, the pressure and the urgency to vote and make Leofinance scale to better positions in the Hive witness list?

also a side note, our posts have already helped to gather some witness upvotes! For starters when i upvote and comment on a post i will also check whether he/she has voted leofinance as a witness, if now i am leave a kind message along with my initial comment!

I didn't know about witnesses, what they did and why it was important to vote in the first two months I've been active on Hive.
It was that I stumbled upon a blog of someone explaining this.
I don't think people are going to vote if they are not notified to do so and explained why.

I would suggest placing something on the main page that reminds people that voting for witnesses is important.

The problem is voting is not mandatory, so it's up to the users but if you're a responsible user who want to participate, then you vote as that's the only way of participating in the governance.

The next hardfork will bring some changes, like witness votes have to be renewed every 6 months if I'm not mistaken, which will eliminate those inactive users who never review their witness votes. I hope a message will appear on our screen letting us know we should vote. But the hardfork will be around midsummer of things go well. Till then, it's up to us.

Great call to action. I check usually if the people I'm interacting with have voted or not and if not, I will send them a DM where to vote.

Thanks Alex! We need to try this as I see no other option. If we all do a little bit, we may succeed. But there's a possibility, that many of the leo users have no hive, and that's sad if it's true.
