The year never stops giving
Just not what we want it
By way of lessons
It ensures we can't miss

First was about family
Our biggest treasure
Don't trade them for anything
Or take them for leisure

Next was about sacrifice
A trait so demanding
Never needing an invite
But reveals our inner strengths

I learned one about loving too
And how I'll probably never get it right
Lemme not bore you though
Those lessons are more of a plight
