Devotional: Delight in the scriptures and be guided by them.

avatar

But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And on his law he meditates day and night. Psalm 1: 2 King James Version (KJV)

Making the word of God the source of our delight leads us to make our devotion to God a priority objective in the knowledge of true devotion.

Delighting in the scriptures helps us to be with God constantly and to create permanent changes in our lives. The psalmist David delighted in divine law day and night, and this helped him to know the precepts and standards that God had established as a moral code for the people of Israel, in order to strengthen their relationship with their only God, Jehovah.

Meditating on the law of God gives us the wealth of wisdom necessary and the source of solid knowledge to strengthen human relationships and respective success in business and the abundant blessings that God promises in his word for those who obey him.

The law of God is more than a written code, which allows the people of God (the church), to know the set of norms by which they must be guided and remain in a harmonious relationship with God.

The psalmist gives us a great example when he tells us that "God's law is his delight." What David liked most was spending a very special time meditating on the scriptures, because this helped him to know the purposes that God had for his people. David set aside important time, both day and night, to meditate on the scriptures, which helped him strengthen his moral and spiritual aspect before God.

Scripture guides us to live in fear of God and to give the true worship that God deserves. When we delight in the word of God we are inquiring divine knowledge and we are showing love towards God. "If you love me, keep my commandments."

Refuse to waste your time on other things and take the time to meditate on the scriptures in order to find the perfect guidance and direction to draw closer to God and enjoy being with heavenly Father.
