I Saw Fire Coming Out Of My Chimney 10.24.2020

This was some days ago. I wanted to get rid of some smaller cardboard boxes. Well, when you order stuff from Amazon and Ebay, there are sometimes a lot of small boxes.

I just thought I might get them out of the way. So I lit them up late at night, then for the heck of it I went outside to see how much smoke would come out of the chimney.

Well, I did see some smoke and then I seen light come out of the chimney. Is this what they call a chimney fire? It only lasted for a little bit. Well, until the cardboard burned up.

I was looking at a couple of chimney fire videos. I found something that seemed helpful in one of the comments. That would be to shut the damper in the fire place when that happens. By doing that the oxygen will be cut off and the fire will eventually go out.

Of course you don't really want to burn too much pine. When there is an ad in Craigslist free ads I ignore the firewood that mentions pine wood. Burning a lot of pine wood would cause chimney fires I read somewhere.

It would be better to burn the harder woods. I like ash and oak. I still have a little oak firewood for this winter.

That reminds me that I still have to chain saw some pieces of wood to make them smaller, then I can use my maul and split them. I like to split wood when it gets cooler, it is still hot at this time.

I like splitting wood when there is a lot of clouds overhead and it is very cool. Well, I like it very cool as splitting wood is hard and I would rather not do it on a hot day.

So back to the chimney. The fire lasted not too long. I guess I better look into having my chimney cleaned. Or maybe just burn on a rainy day.

Let's end with scripture, as it is written, Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. Ephesians 5:1-2.
