It's the weekend, and it's Saturday... and we all know what that means — it's CATURDAY, my favorite day of the week... and time to share all your cute cat and kitten photos!

Equinox and the Arrival of Spring!

Today marks the passing of the Vernal Equinox, which basically means that the length of the day and the night are exactly equal — at least in the astronomical sense — while the days will keep getting longer until we arrive at the Summer Solstice.

I like this time of the year, because it means there is more and more sunshine, and I'm sure you know how much we cats love to lounge around in the sun!

Of course, today is actually cloudy and raining, but in the general sense it is sunnier!

I have been spending most of my time in the Mom-Hooman's office where there's a nice window facing the morning sun... and I enjoy watching the birds building their nests in the trees and nesting boxes along our driveway.

Of course, I don't get to go outside... except accompanied by a Hooman... because we have lots of eagles, coyotes and even mountain lions around here.

Meanwhile, the Mom-Hooman has a new camera she's always poking in my face.

I put up with it... I can't help being adorable!

Happy 1st Birthday Hive!

Today — March 20th — also marks the 1st Anniversary of when the Hive community came into being, as an autonomous fork of Steem.

We've certainly come a long way since then!

I've generally kept my nose out of the "political" part of the equation and just kept my head down while continuing to publish and interact. In a way, I think that's what most of us do, here.

I'm certainly very happy to be part of this brave "social experiment" and have learned a lot I would not otherwise have, and gotten to know some other cool cats in the process.

It takes a long time to build a community... and it seems to me that the occasional critical nay-sayer I bump into mostly has issues with a lack of patience.

"Rome wasn't built in a day," and all that good stuff.

Meanwhile, my alter-ego in the LeoFinance community (@curatorcat.leo) has been learning lots about cryptocurrency, DeFi and other such things.

Why two accounts, you might wonder? Well, cat pictures and feline chatter is a little "off topic" on LeoFinance... but I had a fair number of LEO tokens acquired in early days on Steemit, and wanted to support and participate in what has become Hive's most successful and active "tribe!"

Anyway, looking forward to many more happy years on Hive!

HiveCats by @curatorcat is a central "gathering place" for cat content on Hive; promoting the use of the #hivecats tag for feline content!

Cat Snaps by @manorvillemike is a place to post pictures of your cats when you don't have a whole lot to say beyond just sharing your cute photos!

Caturday Community by @saboin is a community where we get to celebrate posts relating to Saturday — aka "Caturday" — our own special day!

Cat Photos by @andrarchy is a "mixed use" cat content community; posts can be just photos or longer, as long as the subject is CATS! It has a lot of subscribers but is not very active.

Cats by @captainklaus (and Sissi!) is another "general" cat content community; it's there, but not very active.

Last, but certainly not least, a special shoutout to the recently formed Hive Pets Community which has become quite active and has quite a bit of cat content!

There are a number of other feline communities listed on Hive, but I am not sharing them for now as they have not had any activity (by their Admins OR users) since the Steem/Hive fork. Updates as they become available!
