The Coming Rise of the Corporations

This has been the subject of many dystopian future stories.
When the corporations inevitably take over rulership from the govern-cements.

However, it is not going to happen like any story i have read, and this will have more to do with govern-cement failure, than about corporate success.

Further, the time of the corporations will be very short. Fifty years maximum.

- - - - - - -

As govern-cements fail at their, what is supposed to be, their task; aiding the people, maintaining the roads...
more and more people will become disillusioned with govern-cement.

Also, the divide and conquer strategies of the ruling elite is going to create more divide.

And this is going to end up with many countries breaking into much smaller pieces.

While this is happening, and part of the cause of it happening, international corporations are going to start taking things into their own hands. They have been secretly telling govern-cement what to do for decades, now they will feel emboldened to just come right out and wield their power.

The govern-cements will find themselves helpless against the corporations. They kept selling out more and more power... until well, they are too big to fail, too big to jail, and now too big to control.

- - - - - - -

Fortunately, this is just a transition. The thing that has made corporations so powerful will also spell its doom.

Corporations brought us cheap products, and then cheaper products, but what do you do with a corporation that has no more buyers? When they have sold all the toasters that will ever be needed.

The corporations are pushing robotization. And this would be great for their bottom lines,... if their bottom lines didn't rely on people having jobs to buy the shit their robots make.

Further, as robots become increasingly ubiquitous, then people all over will just start using their own robots to make their own products, cheaper, better, greener and local.

What really will kill the corporations is that they can't move fast enough to deal with the international problems with mining, shipping and local strife. They won't be able to keep the goods flowing. Many will find that raw materials aren't available at any price (to the corporation)

All the structures that supported the giant corporations will be gone like the govern-cements the tossed aside.

Corporations will have hung themselves with their own rope.

Corps, may come to fully control the gov but the gov will still control the people. As AI, 5G, and facial recognition becomes more powerful it will be easier for govs to control and monitor people. China is a very good example of this. The difference between US and China is in China, China has complete control of the corps, and y corp that dares to be more influential see their CEO jailed on corruption charges of some sort.

In USA, robots will become the police officers as well so all the guns the citizens have (to protect them from the government, cough) will be obsolete. I suppose citizens will make robots to fight the other robots but that's not feasible because the gov's a bility to monitor and predict citizens action will be better and easier to prevent an uprising, as it is in China now.

That's my 2 cents.

i understand that point of view, but several things are going to happen that will just short-circuit the line that the govern-cements are trying to run.

Such as the ice-age and food shortages.
Further, people demanding transparency in govern-cement.

Another piece is defense-tech is about to take a huge leap.
And it may be as big a divide as star-trek shields vs pop-guns

Interesting...

I think the problem is that as people in modern societies, you can't really tell the difference between a corporation and a person. In a sense, you are the corporation itself. To be against something that is yourself causes confusion. What is "inside" and what is "outside" is difficult to distinguish. However, if you consider your skin as the outer boundary to your environment, then at the boundary to your inside, the skin is not hermetic but permeable. In systems with strong internal dynamics and simultaneous and strongly changing environmental conditions it is hardly possible to distinguish between self- and external organization.

For example, if a human being as an individual together with other individual human beings would be the microscopic organisation of a system (for example, like the body cells), then corporations seem to be the macroscopic organisation, i.e. the whole organism human being. Are we then still talking about the same systems or are they different systems? Or can we understand them like a Babushka doll, one doll in another, one doll in another, which is again in another?

So what is the corporation in?

The people who belong to the richest people in the world, for example, do they per se have the impression that they could rule the world? Especially since the question is whether they would even want to. That's what you implied. In contrast to the development of hunter-gatherers into tribes into settlers, into farmers, into city states, into cities, into nations, an enterprise has not grown culturally; it is difficult to speak of a culture of its own that is not derived from what was already there. Does an energy company have a culture? Does it see itself as similar to a government? What is its mission? I would ask myself whether the shareholders of very large and influential corporations do not recognise their weakness just like anyone else?

I think the model of the corporation is harmful when it comes to the inner workings of a company, the type of production or service, it seems that a shareholder has difficulty taking an interest in what is going on in the company and may prefer to take an interest in art and music and so on. But he wants to keep the shares and have the profits distributed. What everyone likes to call passive income.

I don't know, of course, but the shareholders of a company don't seem to talk about philosophy, culture, nature and so on in their shareholder meetings when they talk about the company at the same time... Are they just going over the numbers? Is it just percentages? One would like to think so. I don't know. It seems strange to me, like a spin-off.

Yet we ordinaries don't do or think much different than the shareholders. We strive for a passive income. We also go to work to make money, not the other way around. In many ways we have the same attitude to life and that is why I said at the beginning that the separation is not so easy.
