I'm Hungry, I'm Tired, I'm Bleeding to Death - EVERYTHINGS FINE!

I don't even remember what song those lyrics were from, but that's how I felt today after a 5 HOUR DOCTOR APPOINTMENT.

My middle child has been feeling bad. Stomach Cramps, throwing up, then playing and jumping, and then back to feeling sick.

Today, as I took her to my mom's house AGAIN, instead of school, I noticed my always thin child and her extra knobby knees, and her extra little back bones. I sighed and gave in and took her to the Doctor, along with her brother, who has also been complaining of stomach cramps.

The boy was waived off as "having a cold" but the girl, she's lost four pounds since September, a very bad sign for a growing child who is also looking pale, having bags under her eyes, and a generally unwell disposition.

Here came the tests. X-rays, urine tests, blood work the worst for the kid who kicked the nurse who gave her the kindergarten immunizations in the groin etc etc.

THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG.

A little gas in the stomach, perfect sugar levels, no infections that could be measured, good white blood cell count, etc etc. I was very happy, yet super upset. Now only did me and my three children wait HUNGRILY for 5 hours, we go NO SOLUTION.

Except, of course, give her plenty of gatorade, some pedia whatever brand shakes, and try to get her to eat.

Well, DUH.

We will be back on Christmas Eve, as some tests take longer to come back. They are still checking for liver disease (unlikely according to the Doctor because everything else looks good) and mono (which usually doesn't affect 7 year olds without affecting the rest of the family). If she hasn't gained any weight, and is still "feeling bad" on Christmas Eve, they will be giving her MORE tests, probably more invasive then the ones she currently got.

I already decided, if she's not better by Christmas, I'm taking her to Mexico and getting the local Shaman to look at her. People always think I am joking but I am totally not. The Shaman has always cured me of any ailments my "American" Doctors have not been able to cure me of.

But why don't I just start with the Shaman to begin with? Well, its a respect thing. The people that usually go to him have no other resources, only him, and me, with my clean water, seemingly unlimited healthy food supply, access to "free" doctor visits, Master Reiki Teacher Level abilities, and all the other privileges I have as a US Citizenship, feel like I am taking his valuable time when he could be helping someone who doesn't have anyone to turn to but him.

However, I am not letting them poke and probe my kid any more, when a quick visit, some bitter herb recommendations, and a good smudging will (more than likely) do the trick.

So... I kept it together today as my parents called incessantly to get updates, offering to pick up my other two kids (which I kept telling them not to because the nurse kept saying "just 15 more minutes"). I kept it together as my kids went from having fun playing hangman and tic tac toe and the stupid circle game. Kept it together as we ate the two mandarins I had in my purse, and split them between four people (hey, I'm pregnant, I took my share). Kept it together as my kid figured out how to pee in a cup. Kept it together as I held her down for them to take her blood. Kept it together as we FINALLY made it to the Pho place. Kept it together as my oldest daughter who was wearing a thin shirt gave her sweater to her sister, so I gave my jacket to to my oldest, and pretended not to be cold. And finally, kept it together, as 45 minutes after I am usually in bed, my "sick child" reminded me that I promised her a toy if she let them do all those tests.

At least it seemed like the toy shopping was meant to be. I found 2 pairs of perfectly fitting maternity jeans (my first pairs as I hadn't bought any yet, and no, I didn't try them on until I got home) 1 maternity shirt, and 2 nice new bras, all on one rack as if someone who was exactly my size picked out the clothes with care and then just left them there, suddenly remembering that they didn't have their wallet or something, all sitting waiting for me next to the toy aisle which had two toys side by side one for the boy and one for the girl, and a bag of my oldest's favorite chocolates too, all for the price that I usually pay for two bras. Ahhhh, someone wanted to make me feel better.

Well, thanks for reading my rant. If you did.

I know it was a lot, and I didn't even give a picture.

What a day!
I'm sure they will have covered this somewhere in all those tests, but what came to my mind was an overactive thyroid. Whatever it is, I hope you get it sorted out one way or another.
Nice to have the shopping organised for you 😎

The shopping was awesome, I don't much like shopping, and have shopped this way many times. Often in the dressing rooms there will be "leftover" clothes that are all my size. Score! Then I just try on what I like and leave. Shopping is not my friend.

As for the kid, she has a super high metabolism, a few days without really eating really did her in. I will make sure they checked for her thyroid levels when the test results come in. I appreciate the suggestion.

You call them shaman at Mexico and we call them traditional doctors here. They heal what medical doctors can't ever heal.

Yup, Shamans, healers, Witch Doctors, etc. They all know something Western Medicine doesn't. I have seen amazing things get cured.
