| Сьогодні свято Богоявлення Господнього (а ще Йордан, Водохреща), а вчора у нас в Україні був другий Святвечір (вечір напередодні Водохреща), коли вся сім’я сідає до святкової вечері. Ми вдруге впродовж року готуємо кутю (а дехто втретє, бо в окремих регіонах нашої країни святкують ще Маланку, напередодні Старого Нового Року). Кутя – це обрядова страва, яка готується із пшеничної каші із додаванням меду, горіхів, родзинок та розтертих макових зерен. У нашій сім’ї цю страву традиційно готує мій чоловік, проте вчора йому вперше допомагала моя дочка Даринка. Проте вона швидко втомилася бо терти мак у макітрі дуже важко, це чоловіча робота. Але мій чоловік дуже зрадів Даринчиній допомозі. | Today is the Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord (Jordan, Epiphany), and yesterday we hadin Ukraine a second Epiphany Eve (the evening before Epiphany), when the whole family sits down to the festive supper. For the second time in a year, we prepare a kutia (and some for the third time, because in some regions of our country they are still celebrating Malanka, on the eve of the Old New Year). Kutia is a ritual dish made from wheat porridge with the addition of honey, nuts, raisins and ground poppy seeds. In our family, this dish is traditionally cooked by my husband, but yesterday he was first assisted by my daughter Darynka. However, she is quickly tired because it is very difficult to rub poppy seeds in a clay pot, it is a man's job. But my husband was very pleased with Darynka's help. |
