April 1999

During the next 2 weeks, Dreamer continued to probe my head about the car accident without much success. No matter how much I thought about the incident, it became no clearer.

He was trying to focus my thoughts on more mundane aspects now such as the colour of my mother's jacket, the brand of my watch or what the texture of the dashboard in my parents' car felt like.

I was somewhat relieved when the third and final audit was complete.

...'LSD is an evil substance according to the church, I always thought it mind blowing in the right environment'...

This was not the sole topic of conversation he had gained from me, the fact that I had taken a plethora of illegal substances in the last few years such as Acid, LSD, and Cannabis also surfaced.

Dreamer looked perturbed by the lack of progress, and on the back of the drug information received recommended a detox course in their London offices. This is known as the 'Purification Rundown'’.

The cost of the program was reported as about US$2,000 in 1990 $1,790 "with discounts" in 1996, though another 1996 source claims around $4,000 for a four-week programme), $1,200 in 1998 and $5,200 in 2009 - Wikipedia

’still the penny had not dropped that that was a complete sham, and I was being led further down a dark path’

Looking at this historical information regarding prices it seems I had hit on a bargain period as my course cost me a mere £800.

I was to detox for 3 days using a combination of Sauna, workouts, and exercise which would rid my body of the evil taunt called LSD.

...'My idea of detox was more like this, now that would have been most welcome'...

He explained that substances would need to be purged from my body before continuing to the next step. Cleaning the shit from my system sounded wonderful and it would fill my spare time in the evenings and a weekend.

What's more, I was dumb stupid enough to pay in advance knowing that for the next few weeks I would be working in the city.

…'In 1999 I had little in terms of common sense, that came later... er... I think'

Since then I have read about people dying during these detox sessions. Even then I was susceptible to headaches if I didn’t take enough liquids.

Hindsight tells me I would have suffered greatly if I had continued with this insanity.

The Great Realisation

Just days after I got a call from my long term friend @steddyman. I had to contact him to refresh the details in my head about his single auditing experience as I had forgotten the detail.

What I couldn’t remember he could and still quite vividly. Perhaps if I had gone at a busy time then I would have never gone back for my second audit.

On me: ‘I remember you got right into it and starting buying and taking a load of fresh fruit stuff from them every lunchtime

My skin was crawling after 5 minutes, I didn't listen to a word the auditor said because I was trying to work out how to get out alive.’ - @steddyman

The reason for this is the dialogue coming plain and clear from the next room that continued unabated for the duration of his audit, that is.. one hour.

Stand up,
Walk to the radiator,
Pick up the book,
Put down the book,
Walk to the chair,
Sit down.

I remember it as clear as yesterday, still gives me chills’ - @steddyman

This was not the only news, @steddyman had used his common sense and done some research on the infantile internet.

image.png
Source

While it was not the fountain of knowledge and bullshit it is today there was enough information to totally discredit Scientology as a dangerous cult from many sources.

…’Oh No….. I just wanted to be Clear, not whisked away by a Galactic Dictator for fuck sake!’

As if his auditing experience was not enough, @steddyman went on to explain about Xenu, the dictator of the "Galactic Confederacy" who brought billions of his people to Earth (then known as "Teegeeack") in DC-8-like spacecraft 75 million years ago, stacked them around volcanoes, and killed them with hydrogen bombs - Wikipedia

The story of Xenu is covered in OT III, part of Scientology's secret "Advanced Technology" doctrines taught only to advanced members who have undergone many hours of auditing and reached the state of Clear followed by Operating Thetan levels 1 and 2.

'more like the story of Xenu is taught to mindless zombies who have been picking up books while walking to the radiator for several years, as well as paying for the privilege of doing such dumbass tasks.'

My mind was whirling after this conversation and I knew at this point that I wanted no further dealings with this bunch of fucking weirdos.

...'I could have been like him after a few more audits'...

Further investigation told me that extracting yourself from Scientology was not at all straightforward.

I read several stories of ex-Scientologists being pursued, taunted, threatened and blackmailed if and when they tried to leave ‘the church

Just what I had got myself into this time?

Yep, that last part sounds about right from what I have heard. I have also heard that a lot of times they make you go into such specific detail of events like that in auditing so they can use it later to blackmail you if it is juicy enough and you try to leave.

Yes, I'm coming to that part.., have half of the final bit written.. this one seems to have gone on longer than the others.

You would hope people would do their research these days, but they are still operating out there. They have some high profile members.

I don't know if there are any similarities, but some people I worked with did the Landmark course. They tried to sell it to me, but I never even went along. Apparently they go for a hard sell. Found this article about it. It's years since anyone mentioned it to me.

I read the Guardian article.., scary. 15 hours a day for 3 days running.. bollocks to that. Not heard of Landmark before you mentioned it.

As for Scientology, it's still going.. I may watch that doco.. Going Clear next, trailer is here

I've got the shivers again reading this. I'd also booked three audit sessions, so they weren't happy that I was not prepared to go back for a second. They wanted a full explanation which I was not prepared to give.

They pestered me for years afterwards, sending me letters asking me to come back. Eventually I phoned them and told them I would report them to the police for harrasment if they didn't stop.

I didn't know this, what did you reveal to them during your sole session?

Eventually I phoned them and told them I would report them to the police for harrasment if they didn't stop.

Didn't know this either, did they in fact cease?

The plot thickens. I did know some of this mythology of Scientology - about the galactic dictator Xenu - but the methodology behind their brain washing techniques are fascinating.

Lucky escape for you though mate, working it out reasonably early in the process.

Very early I would say, they didn't manage to hook me up to one of those e-meter thingies.
