Tribesteemup's Weekly Gems (Week Of The 3rd to the 10th December)

Hello beautiful people!

Welcome to another TribeSteemUp Curation, where I (@trucklife-family) get to showcase some of the great Articles that the tribe members created and that really embody what the Tribe stands for.

The TribeSteemUp community was created by @kennyskitchen. It is a Community Abundance Generator, which supports authors who write articles that look at ways in which we can become more empowered and create a more peaceful and free world.

The authors who have been chosen to become part of the TribeSteemUp community are all writing content of high quality, and they all focus on topics related to the bettering of life, such as:

| Anarchy | Non-Violence | Philosophy | Veganism | Mindfulness |
| Community Empowerment | Love | Original Music | Esotericism |
| Healthy Recipes | Psychedelics | Truth | Permaculture |

The TribeSteemUp community also has 8 Pillars/Principles that each member has agreed to adhere by and you can find The 8 Pillars of TribeSteemUp at the end of this post

There are a total of 16 articles that I have shared with you today, that are all about inspiring us and motivating us to become more aware in our daily lives. Life is all about learning, evolving and being mindful in all that we do. By coming together and engaging with one another we can all share our wisdom and empower one another. We can create the world in which we all wish to live. Happy reading and remember to show your appreciation by upvoting and commenting. You can go one step further by following the TribesteemUp Curation Trail, this way way you are supporting all the great authors who are creating quality content.

NVC Workshop #3: IDENTIFYING NEEDS WHEN LISTENING AND SPEAKING

image.png

@eco-alex

Welcome to this third workshop on non violent communication, in which we will focus on needs and how to identify them. You may have noticed that we've referred to needs several times already in this course, and you'll continue to notice that throughout the course. While all components of NVC help us build connection, our practice of connecting to and listening for needs is central to the learning process.
Needs are universal values that drive all of our actions as human beings. They include anything that a person needs to sustain life no matter their race, religious preference, financial status, location or culture.

Exploring the biodiversity in the Cape Floral Kingdom – smallest and most sensitive on the planet

image.png

@julianhorack

Greetings and welcome to another edition of The Shape of The Cape with your host Julescape. I have been constantly amazed by the curiously prehistoric-looking plant life to be found on my adventures and explorations here on the south Cape coast of Africa. So I want to discuss the Cape Floral Kingdom, one of the six floral kingdoms that make up the entire planet. Not only is the Cape Floral Kingdom the very smallest of the six but it is also the most diverse in number of plant species, and also one of the most endangered.

When Words Are Manipulated And Used To Oppress Us!

image.png

@trucklife-family

Some words are ancient and hold a lot of power and when those words are taken and twisted in order to dis-empower, they can cause the greatest of Offence. Down through the ages certain words have been taken and their true meaning manipulated in order to oppress others.
The sound Cu, Ku, Qu and Coo are very feminine sounds that predate written language and which are very relevant to the word that I wish to discuss today. If you come from an english speaking country this word can be seen as very derogatory, but when you look into the history of it, you will discover how powerful it actually is.
The word is CUNT.

Why have I focused so much on the Coronavirus quarantine?

image.png

@johnvibes

I think people are confused about why I’ve been focusing so much on the coronavirus. I am not particularly concerned about getting it, and I am not panicking in that regard, which many people seem to assume. I have been looking at the footage that has been coming in for weeks, and I have had people sending me info on this since before they knew what to call it (they still don’t know what to call it btw). Activists in Hong Kong that I connected with through the protests have been talking about this since December.

The Power Of NO

image.png

@earthcustodians

The worship of materialism is what led us where we are and this is absolutely prophetic. Countless mystics have warned us about the superficiality of the attachment to things and instant egotic gratifications whatever they are.
Because the ego tends to follow the path of the least resistance (exactly like money), it was a mere cakewalk for "those in the know" to herd us in the maze over the centuries. When we understand what is really happening, all this sounds so surreal, though much like a never-ending nightmare.
Most people have lost the sense of what it means being human because most endure such mechanical lives. Without advertising to sustain the illusion of freedom, they are pretty much lost, so lost that they would do anything for money.

Sorry, not sorry

image.png

@bia.birch

I am sitting at the new artsy craft brewery, headphones in, laptop in front of me, and I am clearly writing. A man comes over, sits down at my table and expects me to talk with him. He asks if I want a beer. I say no, but thank him for coming over to say hi, so as not to damage his fragile ego. I had to take out my headphones and stop my train of thought in order to accommodate this conversation I did not invite.
I am dressed professionally, working in my own space, in my own thoughts. I just left the small town, small claims court where I filed against another man who tried to screw me over by calling his shitty work good enough, and me too hard to please. I accommodated him too by babysitting his kids while I paid him to tile my kitchen.

The best advice I can give new steemians

image.png

@whatamidoing

I spent today browsing around the #introduceyourself page and realize I’ve been neglecting my duties as a steem senpai. Its not really something I feel I have to do but I want to see the whole community succeed and so I’m going to try and reach out to new users a bit more.
There are tons of posts giving advice on how to succeed as a steemian, but as with most things I have my unique (and awesome (and currently tipsy)) perspective.
After the honeymoon is the hardest part
You may get a big upvote on your introduction post if it’s good enough. You may win someone’s favor at some point early on, but eventually you realize, this place is a grind. People who support you have other people they want to support. They are busy. They forget you sometimes. It’s a natural part of the hyper connected world we live in.

The Power Of The Steem Community

image.png

@taskmaster4450

Did anyone notice where HolyBread is now ranked on State of the DApps? I took a look this morning and it is somewhere around #11.

This after about 10 days.
It shows how strong the Steem community is and how quickly those on this blockchain can change things. The game received a great deal of attention from those who are accustomed to using different features on Steem.
Of course, sitting at the top of the list is still Splinterlands, the top DApp out there.

A Look at Adaptogens, Their Uses and Potential for Growing.

image.png

@minismallholding

Recently I've been coming across videos and articles talking about adaptogens. I don't know if it's that phenomenon where once you know about something you suddenly start to see it everywhere, or if a little birdie is trying to tell me that I really should be looking into these more.
What is an adaptogen?
Adaptogens are herbs, and some mushrooms, which adapt to your body's needs, fortifying it to be able to deal better with health issues that you have or which might come your way. They can be relaxing or stimulating, depending on your body's physical, chemical or biological needs at the time. Each adaptogen is a little different in the areas it works best, but overall they manage stress, probably the biggest cause and aggravator of chronic illnesses.

I love Three Seed Tea - Haiku - Wonderful Remedy and Recipe

image.png

@crescendoofpeace

I don't recall exactly when I was introduced to Three Seed Tea, and I'm not certain that we had even moved to Tennessee, but it was at least four or five years ago, and possibly far longer than that.
Initially I saw a video, sent to me via email from a health newsletter I to which I subscribed, with an Ayurvedic doctor describing the tea, how to make it, and why it was so beneficial to make it a daily habit.
What I do know, was that a few days (weeks?) later, when I finally tried it, it was not only healthy, but absolutely delicious. Bonus!!!
I should note that my mom grew up in New Mexico, and cooked everything with chile, so I love spicy food.
But although Three Seed Tea is made with common spices, and has a very distinctive flavor, it is not spicy hot, so if you don't like hot food, you can still enjoy it and its many benefits.

We're All Conspiracy Theorists. Yes, Even You.

image.png

@kennyskitchen

For those of us privileged enough to live in what's referred to as the industrialized world, where drinkable water (or at least close to it) comes out of pipes and electricity & wireless internet are ubiquitous and often free, the biggest problem that we face is generally each other.
Most people find themselves aligning with one team or another, each with it's own figureheads, dogma, and rhetoric. There's a team that wants to use force & coercion against others because of their religion or skin pigmentation. There's a team for those who want to use force & coercion against others to stop them from indulging in their so-called "vices."

Short Thoughts and an Update

image.png

@nateonsteemit

My work has been heavy on me lately. Moreso as I'm changing jobs again into something where I get my hands soaked in diesel fuel all night. Refined, concentrated remains of a bygone era, created by the sun and used to fuel our modern world.
I am the literal and figurative fuel in the engine of the industrial model.
My labor, my energy, my time, the fabric that my life is literally comprised of, is fueling the system that I need to leave. That I need every person that reads this to leave behind. My life is starkly severed between a life that embraces nature and one that fuels the industrial paradigm.
Unending encouragement comes from many individual actions and how much of an effect can be made with even the smallest effort. You people keep rocking, you are my fuel.

Mazunte Depostit Build - The Challenge of Scoring Tires

image.png

@stortebeker

One of the greatest things about tire walls in general and Earthships in particular, is that most of the building material is free: the dirt under our feet, and a problem product you can find anywhere in the world, which in certain places you may even get paid for taking. Well, that place is not Mazunte, that's for sure.
So far we have gotten most of our tires from the two garbage dumps in our vicinity, in Puerto Escondido and Huatulco. After jumping through a few bureaucratic hoops to get a permission, we had to shake dead vulture carcasses out of extremely dirty tires... if we found any. Oftentimes we would arrive just a day after all the tires had been taken by Cemex, the Mexican cement company to burn in their kilns. The irony didn't escape us, how they caused a whole lot of unnecessary pollution, by destroying a wonderful building material, in order to make something that will be wasted in low-quality constructions.

"Healing Circle" Experimental Permaculture Design and Thoughts on Bringing Abundance With Little Water

image.png

@fenngen

Here I share with you a little experiment I'm doing to try and regenerate a bit of this dry land. If all works well it should provide both food, as well as a service to the ecosystem by retaining moisture and promoting the growth of local flora. Hope you enjoy, and I appreciate all comments. Thanks for watching!

The Elephant in the Room: Ancient Wisdom Meets Human Invasion in Northern Thailand

image.png

@artemislives

Are national parks for preserving the natural world and allowing space and freedom for the wild beings to roam? Or are they glorified amusement parks designed for human convenience?

In Thailand, particularly Khao Yai National Park, the humans win all too often. A seemingly endless stream of visitors are drawn there for its pristine sub-tropical forests and abundant wildlife, including wild elephants. But they also visit Khao Yai due to the excellent roads created for human convenience (and income generation!) and its proximity to both Bangkok and Southern Laos-China. Far too many tourists rent a car and hit the road, in the hopes of encountering a wild elephant. Far too often, they get their wish in not quite the way they planned.

Homemade Foccaccia With Olive Tapenade

image.png

@riverflows

We've had a really late season for tomatoes - in fact all of our veggies, bar zucchini, because the temperature has been lower on average. This week was the first week we've had a bit of a a harvest - they've been totally tasty. Little yellow cherry tomatoes and beautiful black russians I've been scoffing just standing in the vegetable garden. I pretty much loathe store bought tomatoes and never add them to my salads - but if I have real tomatoes, I love them drizzled with balsamic, olive oil and salt, with fresh garden basil.

A big thank you to @hungryhustle for creating the amazing infographic of the 8 Pillars Of TribeSteemUp and For @eco-alex for creating the tribesteemup banner and logo.
