A massive area of the Amazon Rainforest is currently on fire - with Brazil's President, who came to power partially by saying he was going to stop protecting the rainforest, bizarrely claiming that the non governmental groups who are in Brazil to protect the rainforests are the ones who started the destruction to make him look bad and extort money!

Throughout the history of the United States, and really the entirety of Western culture historically, society has developed cultural tools to instruct children on what it means to be a boy or a girl. Culture refers to the ideas, beliefs, values, normative behaviors, media, laws, and other socially constructed ideas which are specific to any given society.

Are You Evolving Your Consciousness?

When I think about the people I love in life and my hopes for them, they usually go something like “be well”, “be at peace”, “be full of joy”, “be loved.” I wonder if it would be better to think instead in terms of:
“Be Evolving.”
I’ve met and known people who I now think actually shouldn’t be at peace. In fact, they are at war internally but they use avoidance to pretend otherwise. Instead of facing their weaknesses, failures, struggles, shortcomings, darkness, selfishness, and opportunities for growth, they continue as they have been, stuck in a loop and not evolving.

There is something up-close-and-very-personal about Asian village life that makes it almost impossible to close your heart. Ooh grows and sells vegetables on the corner of the little soi (laneway) across from our Pure Thai Naturals production building. I buy fresh greens and limes from her most everyday, knowing full-well that she has no money for chemicals and everything she grows in the street across from ours is seasonal, local and organic.

Because the discourse, in my opinion, is so much better in Steem-land than on Facebook, I wanted to pose the question to you all and provide you with my answers to the question. What The Hell Do I know?

So what do I know, what do any of us know?
I know myself.
I know that I change from day to day and even though I say I know myself now, that may all change again tomorrow.
I know, that it is right this minute, that matters the most.
I know that I am responsible for the way I live my life, for the choices I make and the actions I take.
I know that my breath is powerful, that I can calm myself, simply by being mindful about how I breathe.
I know that my roots run deep within the earth and that my life is guided by the wild, that is both within and without.

Earth Custodians really think that Nature made us omnivores to be able to go through winters originally, but when it was discovered that salt could preserve meat and fish, our species started eating animal proteins more regularly.
Throughout the centuries, eating meat was also a social class thing, poor people didn't eat meat that often at all. It is also useful to mention that lay hens have been genetically modified since the mid 1950s or so to produce 1 egg per day. That little fact alone made chicken meat, all of a sudden, much more available on the market place.

I find it interesting that this question pops up at this time. I’ve been mostly offline for a number of weeks, what with very busy and intense work and family commitments that were taking up bandwidth.
Last week I took a break from work and spent a few days at my sister’s place in sunny North Bondi (Sydney). I spent my time walking along the beautiful coastline, hanging out in cafes, watching Seinfeld reruns, and playing the odd bit of Eve Online. It was the ideal resting and reset for my nervous system.

It is important to note that many of the images shared in the wake of the recent fires were actually falsely attributed, however, there is a very real crisis taking place in the Amazon, and in other tropical regions throughout the world.
