Steem ecoVillage Update : Land Acquired in Portugal, Website Launch, ecoVillage Token is Live!

image.png

@eco-alex

Last month I shared a post about ecoVillage, and promised to update you all with some big news, and today I'm very happy to share with you some incredible news and updates to the ecoVillage project. In my last ecoVillage post I had set the clear intention to not only create an ecoVillage based on natural giving, but also to get the help and support to manifest this grand project from the Steem community. You guys did not let me down, and today I'm so happy to share with you that we have now secured the land for the first ecoVillage, FOR FREE! So a HUGE shout out to @orlev, who by amazing co-incidence shares my vision for ecoVillage completely! @orlev has recently bought around 7 acres of beautiful pine forest land in Portugal, with the intention of creating an offgrid community based also on natural giving.

Humans are far too unique to say things like "Most People _______"

image.png

@kennyskitchen

One of the biggest signals that tends to make it obvious someone hasn't traveled much is when they say things like "Most humans..." and don't follow it up with a universality like "...drink water" or "...will die someday." It's even a tell-tale sign that someone hasn't left their home state/city much when they say a slightly different version: "Most Americans ________."
The variety of humans that show up just inside of a given family or community make it clear that "most people" have very little in common with "most people."

Embracing Permaculture, Embracing Change

image.png

@trucklife-family

Change is inevitable, yet it is something that so many people resist. We resist it because we wish to feel in control of what is happening in our lives. When we have no idea of the possible outcome of a situation, this subtle fear creeps in and we sometimes mistake it for as something that will protect us and keep us safe. But the reality is, it is holding us back and preventing us from taking action.
A lot of the time our fear of change stems from the stories we tell ourselves and the stories we hear from others, especially the media. We have forgotten that we are the creator of our own stories and our story can be changed at any time!

Heavy Metal Detoxing

image.png

@minismallholding

Over the last few months I've been working on detoxing; specifically heavy metals. No, I don't mean I'm purging heavy metal music from my life. It's one of those things which has crossed my path a few times, but hasn't really sunk in until recently. It's not as if we're obviously experiencing lead poisoning like they did when it was in so many paints, or arsenic poisoning like they did when it was in the dyes of our wallpaper or clothes. So surely it's not that much of an issue?
For most of us, our bodies are actually pretty good at clearing out the day to day toxins which find their way into us. It's one of the many jobs our immune system performs. Some people’s bodies are less effective at performing this task and they are usually the ones that have auto immune issues and/or brain function issues.

Exploring Natural Dental Health | Pt. 3 - Baking Soda, Alkaline Guardian of the Mouth

image.png

@paradigmprospect

It's quite hard to believe at first until you actually try it but baking soda (sodium bycarbonate) is a really powerful thing to have in your household. Not only in your kitchen but also and especially when it comes to cleaning your body and your environment.
Brushing teeth with this stuff is outright exciting! It changes the milieu in your mouth towards slight alkaline and the sensation is somewhat of an adventure! I have listened to natural health enthusiasts who claim that all you really need to do is to brush your teeth with this stuff after your last meal or snack and the saliva in your alkaline mouth can do its job to take care of your teeth, remineralize them and repair them.

Towards A New Earth Commons...

@andrewmarkmusic

The merit of my idea is that it would allow as many people as much choice as possible as to which system they want to live under--so the ethics of voluntaryism are important to the degree that this is possible. The present worldwide financial monoculture is reaching all natural limits and cannot be sustained-- 2 billion practitioners was the likely limit. In all likeliness, this system reached its limits in and around 1950. I think the postmodernists grokked this, and, in part, is what they were getting at.

How To Avoid or Recover From Burnout

image.png

@eftnow

There seems to be a BURNOUT EPIDEMIC these days.
While it can have similar symptoms to many other conditions, it is now recognised as a health issue in its own right.
The World Health Organisation states that burnout is caused by ongoing, chronic stress and characterises it as:
"Feelings of energy depletion or exhaustion; increased mental distance from one's job, or feelings of negativism or cynicism related to one's job; and reduced professional efficacy."
However, there is a lot more to it than that.
For many of us, it is a symptom of the deep, subconscious discontent with the way we are living.
In this livestream, I’ll be covering:
• The generally accepted view of what causes burnout and why it is incomplete
• How you can avoid or truly heal from burnout, rather than just treating the symptoms
• What you can learn from burnout (even if you aren’t experiencing it) to enable you to live a healthier and more fulfilling life.

Conservation Group Plans To Buy World’s Largest Sequoia Forest For $15.6 Million

image.png

@johnvibes

A conservation group from San Francisco named “Save the Redwoods League” recently agreed on a deal to purchase the largest privately-owned sequoia forest in the world. However, they don’t actually have the $15.6 million that will be needed to seal the deal yet.
The area is known as Alder Creek and it is located in the southern Sierra Nevada in eastern central California, surrounded by the Giant Sequoia National Monument. Alder creek is 530 acres in total size and contains 483 trees that have a trunk diameter of over six feet. There are also some famous trees on the land, including the Stag Tree, which is 3,000-years-old and the world’s fifth-largest tree.

Oh the Narcissist Society We have Built Ourselves ◇ Is it time to Re-Wild ourselves?

image.png

@senorcoconut

This civilized world we live in today, must be one of the most narcissistic human organization system ever created.
Why have we absolutely no regards for future generations? We treat our environment as if it was some sort of foreign entity instead of our habitat. This kind of thinking has had such a negative impact on our health (and that of other species), and could be why we constantly fight each-other...
Since I was a kid, there has been a large number of human behaviors that never made any sense to me. I always felt something was extremely wrong with the way the majority of people live... I always thought something was really OFF.

Freezing Hands, Warm Hearts: Local Community Garden Meet Up!

image.png

@riverflows

With a temperature of 9 degrees and a windchill of 4 degrees, and thunder brewing in the background, it did not seem at all to be a good day for a gardener’s swap meet. We had organised to meet at a local cafe, but with the wind whipping through and drizzling rain, we quickly retreated the mudhouse shelter across the road next to the playpark, hoping that people would see us there.
By 10.15, the shelter was full of smiling, happy faces, bringing in arm loads and box loads of all kinds of plant matter. A huge wheelbarrow of white and purple irises stood spectacularly in the corner, stealing everyone’s attention as much as the tiny seedlings of tomatoes, snapdragons and purple artichokes.

[Recipes] My Plentiful Garden Weed is Replenishing My Skin and Nourishing My Body...

image.png

@porters

With winter coming on, I'll need more skin lotion for my winter dry skin. I have a simple 3 ingredient lotion bar recipe and I have lots of all the ingredients. Lots of coconut oil, hemp seed oil (I want to use this up before it goes bad) and a large bar of bees wax I got at a garage sale. Plus there is one final ingredient that will really add to the lotion, making it more than your basic lotion, it'll add extra health benefits, health for your skin, that ingredient is chickweed - Stellaria media. The chickweed I am going to infuse into my hemp seed oil by simply packing a pint jar with fresh chickweed, then filling the jar with the hemp seed oil making sure all the chickweed is covered. Put the lid on the jar and shake, then put it in a cool place for a couple of weeks, shaking regularly.

Trees For Bees. #1: Indian Cork Tree

image.png

@artemislives

Teaching bee keeping to indigenous Karen refugee & displaced people in December has me planning NOW and thinking about long term food supply for the bees. In the pristine jungles along the Thai Burma border, the wild bees naturally hibernate and live off the honey in their hives when there is little food about.
Our challenge is to extend those periods of flowering available food sources by carefully adding flowering trees around the edges of refugee camps, settlements and small villages, and community places like the grounds of the new Karen State Field Hospital. Tree planting is needing to be far more strategic, as we want to include trees that possibly also have secondary income possibilities, like fruits that can be harvested & sold, leaves that might be dried and used for herbal products, or seeds that can be sold and used for oil pressing.

Tony Sayers & James Bartley- Inorganic Souls, Timelines And Human Sovereignty

image.png

@tonysayers33

Here I have a wonderful conversation with the knowledgable James Bartley on a number of issues. Firstly we discuss the idea of NPC's or Non Player Characters, better known as 'inorganic souls'
We then go into depth in regards to timelines and what is likely to happen during this shift of human awakening. We also affirm human potential and how much power we TRULY have yet have forgotten it!

Who Do I Trust? And How? And Why? Ecotrain's Question of the Week

image.png

@stortebeker

Whenever I found myself in big, crazy cities, such as New York or Budapest, this is the advice I was given by some well-meaning stranger, who apparently had learned all the ropes, of course the hard way, as they never seized to overwhelm me with stories of being ripped off by someone smarter than them. They liked to relate the urban area to a jungle, where power and money rule, but shrewdness and a ruthless attitude could lead to money and power. And if someone happened to be too trusting, it was them who'd be first taken advantage of.

Cryptocurrency Is Going To Make Everyone A Whale

image.png

@taskmaster4450

There is a love/hate relationship with Whales.
We are jealous of them; despise how greedy they are; detest how they behave.
Yet most of us want to be them.
Whether it is EOS, STEEM, BTC, TRON, or ETH, the feelings are the same. They have a lot while the rest of us do not.
This is residual from the economic system we are presently operating under. There are Whales in that world too. We see them on the Forbes lists. They are continually appearing on television. When there is a major run in the market, we hear now much richer they became.
Of course, the wealth is always flaunted if there is a divorce. Jeff Bezos and Tiger Woods both wrote big checks when exiting their marriages; checks bigger than most of us can comprehend.

Fire On The Mountain

image.png

@metametheus

Reflections on my previous week and what I have learned from the I Ching's 56th hexagram have helped me realise I'm just a Wanderer, a Dharma Bum, an existential vagrant through a world full unsettled settlers.

My personal exploration of the 56th hexagram LǙ has been profound. Throughout the process of working with the I Ching, I have always sought to understand the meaning of the hexagrams and the individual lines through the filter of whatever I am experiencing on the day. In some instances there hasn’t necessarily been anything emerge in my field that made sense; at other times it was like this ancient, living book was speaking to me directly. This week has been as the latter.

A big thank you to @hungryhustle for creating the amazing infographic of the 8 Pillars Of TribeSteemUp and For @eco-alex for creating the tribesteemup banner and logo.
