Tree Tuesday - Early Morning Wasp Nest

Here's a wasp nest for #treetuesday

I found another pale faced hornet nest in a nice spiral pattern.

This one was still active, but it was too early for the wasps to be out and about.

Also it was a bit foggy and chilly outside. This probably kept the wasps inside their nest a bit longer.

The lake nearby also had plenty of fog rolling off the surface.

I had to walk out of the woods to get warmed up a bit.

Finally I made it to an open prairie area to warm up. This place is full of goldenrod a nice edible plant.

The open prairie area was full of bluebirds eating cold bugs off the ground. Sadly I did not bring my zoom lens for a good shot of them.

As compensation here's a bluebird I caught with my zoom lens earlier this year.

Happy #treetuesday

Lovely post.
We had a wAsp nest about the same size last year in a shed. Amazing right?
We had to get rid of it since it was over hanging our tractor.
Love the bluebird pix.
Enjoy your day!

I've never tried removing a nest. Do you throw a bag over it first?

We just use a long shooting wasp killer, or just burn it. My hubby is so allergic to bee strings we take no chances.

I knew a guy who tried spraying them with a hose. Didn't work out too well for him lol.

I want to collect one someday and use the paper for some kind of drawing.

The blue bird is just fantastic! The wasp nest looks scary! We had a bug one last year! Wasps all around the garden!!

Yup! Luckily we had very few hornets a few years ago! Those were really fierce! We used to have a few bees nests, but they didn’t come back. The flyfires were also gone! We used to see up to twenty in the night!

I saw quite a few fireflies this year but it has dried up this month and they seem to habe gone to sleep.

Loved the fog on the lake and the bluebird. :))

Too bad we have no loons over here to make the foggy lake even more picturesque. There were just a ton of cheepong chipmunks having a morning yell fest.

Its a strange morning behavior, early in the morning at 7am the are all in the trees cheeping at the same time. There must have been hundreds of them yelling at the same time.
