Tree Tuesday - Arizona Cottonwoods
Here's a few early spring cottonwood trees for this #treetuesday by @old-guy-photos
These cottonwood trees grow fast and large. The wood tends to be weak though.
The early mormon settlers in this part of Arizona planted lots of them as there is artesian wells in this area. They transformed the desert landscape with these trees into a little oasis.
Here you can see the broken branches that have fallen off these trees. They are a bit of a hazard as they get old and die quickly. A heavy wind knocks the branches off easily. Stear clear of them when its windy.
If you ever find yourself in southern Arizona in a small town of St. David you can see these cottonwood trees everywhere. This is an interesting catholic monastery that has forests of cottonwood around it.
Happy #treetuesday
