Maine-ly a Wednesday Walk on a Tree Tuesday

avatar
(Edited)

#7.JPG

Survival of the fittest. Growing on the face of granite. Life imitates nature some days. This post is dedicated to #TreeTuesday by @Old-Guy-Photos. You can find his dtube video for the challenge here. I dare you to show me some trees! While we are at it, we are going to do our #WedensdayWalk with @Tattoodjay. You can check out his post here. It was a wonderful day to hike in Acadia National Park in Maine!! Who's in? All you have to do is raise your hand!

#2.JPG

I am overlooking the fractures in these pieces of granite, the pieces that form square blocks. The joints enlarge and expand when water fills them and freezes and the joints get larger and larger.

From October to the earlier parts of March, many people flock to Cadillac Mountain to be able to lay claim to witness the sun striking the earth of Cadillac Mountian first, here in the United States. The rest of the time, Mars Hill in Aroostook Country claim the rights to it.

#15.JPG

I wanted to revisit the beauty of spring once again. For that is my true love, true love. The freshness of a new start, to begin, all over again. That is why I took my car and pointed it in the direction of Cadillac Mountain, in the beauty of Acadia National Forest, Maine. Hail the beauty. These shots cannot hold a candle to its natural wonder. But, I breathe the freshness of the pine and take in the salty air from the tide that beats upon the shores, constantly changing the landscape of the shoreline. The walk is brisker than it has any business being. I have on shorts and I think it is reading 59 degrees. Oh, Lord. I forgot I was going to Maine. Weather be damned.

#6.JPG

The white birch bark trees are probably one of my favorite kind of trees and they are sprinkled all over the landscape here. I walk through this forest, noticing the trend of these beautiful trees, mixed in with the various varieties of pine. When I was growing up, I had three in my yard and I used to love peeling the bark off them, fascinated by stories of Native Indians building canoes from them, starting with peeling the bark and measuring it out to the length of the frame. Oh, guide my hands and teach me the ways of the Algonquin.

Winding my way through the edge of the forest and the cliffs of granite, the signs of spring meet my eyes, and I behold the sights with all my might. Nothing prepared me for reliving spring again, in the most delightful way.

#8.JPG

Or maybe this is my season
Perchance
Leaving the irrational longing behind
Welcoming the feeling instead

#5.JPG

Leaning on the doorway, the entrance for which

Waiting for my heart to separate
Reality from not

#3.JPG

What is not to love? The newness of how it all feels, the way the golden sun shines through the unfurling fern.
#14.JPG

I walk out into the clearing and enjoy the day. Once again. And so, I put away my trees for another week and end my walk here. I hope you enjoyed just a touch of the Maine landscape, it is always incredibly beautiful there. Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall. Ask James Taylor.

A flower. There must always be a flower. This flower is dedicated to #TuesdayOrange and #WednesdayYellow #ColorChallenge by @Kalemandra who colors my world. Every. Single. Day.

Thank you for visiting my post 💖 Because of you, I come back to post again and again, I am encouraged by you, for the time you take to visit, comment or even upvote. For all of these reasons, I am eternally grateful. Don't ever forget what a wonderful world we live in, people. Let's hold hands around the globe and make this earth really spin. Some days, it is not as easy to see, how wonderful it really is. Kindness counts. Wherever you go, whatever you do.

I always post this poem down at the bottom of my posts. It is one that has become so near and dear to my heart. I only post the most famous part of it, but, wanted to post it in its entirety today.

they set my aunts house on fire
i cried the way women on tv do
folding at the middle
like a five pound note.
i called the boy who use to love me
tried to ‘okay’ my voice
i said hello
he said warsan, what’s wrong, what’s happened?

i’ve been praying,
and these are what my prayers look like;
dear god
i come from two countries
one is thirsty
the other is on fire
both need water.

later that night
i held an atlas in my lap
ran my fingers across the whole world
and whispered,
"where does it hurt?"
it answered,

"everywhere"
"everywhere"
"everywhere"

Makes me want to get in my Car and head to main such beautiful natural scenery gorgeous greens and beautiful trees I feel so refreshed for seeing this scenery
and then as always finishing off with such beautiful flowers, which funnily enough was what I was editing photos of as Gina told me you had done a Wednesday Walk post, I played around with my Lensbaby today its a fun lens to play with but tricky to get doo shots with

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk and being an amazing guide for SteemUSA !tip

I agree, lensbaby is such a specialty lens and sometimes does not give you the exact thing you are expecting. For someone like myself, who uses more flowers than the average person, it adds a slight artistic flare to the shot and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

I have found that I do better with the 100mm, but, I realize that is personal preference. Most of my friends that photograph florals love lensbaby and rave about it. I have come to the conclusion I am not using it properly. :)

Heyyyy! My Ginabot hasn't worked in forever!!! Not even with the commands. It makes my life awful and I miss everything!

Hope you have a great Wednesday Walk!

Thanks for being the funnest guide ever!!! Yes! That is a word. I think it's Canadian. Maybe.

And since I get reply by mistake I will continue on I do love be my 90mm macro but I bought the lensbaby trio a while back for one of my early Sony’s and decided to try it out and had fun with it but it is tricky to get the shots one wants but that’s part of the fun if it
I kept it in my bag and will play with it a bit more today I just saw last night some of the newer ones added an aperture control which would make things easier possibly
But it’s all about having fun so let’s see how it goes with the trio today it can create kind of double exposure shots but setting it midway between two len settings so I am going to try that day weather permitting
Have a great day

Don't you hate when that happens! Oh, my friends have had their lensbaby for quite a while now, most when it first came out. I can say that they love it and have fun all the time but, it does, as you say, get tricky and most times, I have my back against the wall trying to get a few shots.

Oh, for the day when I can meander through life and take all the shots I want, time be damned. Le sigh. Oh, they have a newer one? Nope. I am looking away right this moment as I have a lens I haven't worked with enough to make it obedient. I need to figure it all out first. :)

It is all about the fun and I cannot wait to see the double exposure effect! Have a fun day and I will check later to see if it happened. Although your weather should start falling apart later this afternoon, I think. Have a wonderful day!

I seem to do it a lot LOL, especially when on my phone or iPad not so much on the computer

I actually loved playing with it around the office and while walking to and from Lunch yesterday, its not one i would probably use if I was going to a new spot or part of the city where i would use other lenses, but for a just ave fun and no pressure sort of stroll I can see myself playing with Lensbaby lens , especially when I do retire and have more time.

SOI actually moved the Lensbaby Composer pro 11 optic set, off of my wish list into my cart last night and clicked Buy

Should have it on Friday and looking forward to play with it on my weekend walks now and again :)

I did edit two of the double exposure shots last night and there different but kind of cool but then again I do have weird tastes, I also got some cool flower shots with it, even a few with Bahbahra, so I have some to edit and put in a post sometime

The Lensbaby will never be my Main lens but I think it will be one to use when I just need to walk with my camera and have fun

You to have a wonderful day

PS Friday will be a market Friday for me I have four deliveries coming, one functional and the other fun things so that will be cool

Oh yeah it seems like granite is apropos for such rugged land! I have to say we are lacking such big pieces of stone here. I was surprised even how much more there was in Va. I guess thats what those mountains are all about. Well just between us, Ben nabbed a few choice pieces of quartz from the property. I suppose the laugh is on us coz we are paying top dollar after all. Love the tree and how it is surviving and thriving where it is against all odds!

The granite is so beautiful. The pictures didn't come out as well as I wanted, but, I was more interested in keeping good footing than to see if I could see through that little lens finder.

The geologic history of Acadia National Park stretches back in time through ... Erosion wore away the rocks covering the large granite bodies, ... leaving behind granitic rubble and bright pink scars on precipitous rock faces.

Granite underlies most of the park, especially the pink course-grained. I too was surprised at the rocks in Virginia, but, I have to say that it is mostly to the West and or almost exclusively on the Western borders of the state in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Did you tell Ben that you are supposed to leave Virginia in Virginia? They make you empty your pockets in some countries to make sure you don't take rocks or shells or things away from the country. :)

Make him come back and put it where it belongs. Oh, they didn't take the offer? Boooo.

Do love that tree too! Happy #TreeTuesday! As always, have a delightful night!

Hehe! Well, I decided to put that because I always do flowers, but, now I must!!! Right???

Thank you and I know I cheated, but, it is the only way to get both done and have time to do it! Maine is beautiful. I go when I get a chance. It is one of those States that has so many different looks, from Coastline to Mountains to farms and on and on.

I hope you get there someday! As always, have a most wonderful day tomorrow!

Thank you so much. I love to try to get a 2 in 1 - especially if I am running short on time and not sure if I will get in another! :)

It was a short trip there, but, long on fun. It really does make it worth the trip when there is something so beautiful waiting for you to discover it. The boulders are pieces of granite. Isn't that amazing? I hope you take a walk or hike and take pictures of your country.

You know I would love to see that! The little purple flower is called a violet. As always, I wish you a wonderful day!

I enjoyed the entire walk but the photo of the newly forming fern is the one I'm thinking about the most. I would never have thought to take such a photo of something not totally in its beautiful blooming glory...but I will now. You're walk had it all.

I am so glad you enjoyed the walk. I do love Maine and all of the newly arrived spring up there. Funny to me as we are in the '90s here.

I have been in love with the unfurling of the fern since I was a little kid. There is something exciting about watching the progress! If there is one thing I have learned about photography, it is that there is still beauty in the demise of things. When fall comes, I will be showing lots of dead plants and I defy you not to call them beautiful.

Wait and see. :) And as always, I hope you have a wonderful week!

So much beauty. Your photos are so lovely. I have never been to Maine. From what I can see in your post, it is a lovely place. I usually think 3 things when I think of Maine, Lobster, Autumn Colours, and Steven KIng. How did I do?

Winner! Winner! Chicken Dinner!

Isn't that what we all think when we say the word, Maine? Stephen King is like part of the landscape there. He wanders the roads in Bangor, Maine and was seen by this chick walking his everyday life in the town he has made famous. To be fair, my family vacationed up there well before that. :) We love Maine and it's craggy coastline dotted with lighthouses.

I probably would have been an annoying fan girl If I had seen him. And this is from a girl who lives in Vancouver and so celebs abound. But Stephen KIng ... Yes, yes, yes:)I can't wait until my son is older and we can begin reading his books together.

You are the best mother ever, Pryde! That sounds like a lot of fun. I grew up in Connecticut and had the same thing. All the NY celebs lived there to get away from NY and people there left them alone to live their lives.

But, Stephen King... Major fangirl excitement when I see him. Another celeb that I love coming across is Steven Tyler. He is so cool and takes selfies with you on your camera and his.

He is super cool about it!

One would think it would have a car involved somehow, right? No, just a beautiful State along the New England coastline. (Close to where I was born and raised) I frequently go back to where is familiar to visit and relive some of its beauty.

I love that song and the mellow tones... How soothing his voice is, no? You have the best taste in music! Thank you and thank you for stopping in and saying hello! I see you are busier than usual, so I hope that you are enjoying the powerhousecreatives and it is giving you what you were looking for!

I remember I've seen some of your posts about those places. Am I wrong if remember that you were there last year for the moon eclipse?
About the song...it's about what I think it was the best Greek rock band.
In this band were two great musicians: Vangelis and voice Demis Roussos
I like in the PHC, it is a place where you can interact with quality people, facilitate mutual help and I think it is a necessary help for me at this stage. Unfortunately, I'm very busy right now and don't participate as much as I should.

Awesome post! We took a camping trip to the New England states when I was a kid. By far Maine was my favorite part of it. We drove through Acadia National park and up the mountain. I even remember we splurged and bought a plane ride around the mountain. I was trying not to throw up the whole time, but it was still awesome. It is on my bucket list to go back there someday with my wife so she can experience the beauty of that area.

Oh! That sounds awesome! I haven't flown over that area, but, I know a lot of people that have. I applaud you for your adventurous activities.

It really is a beautiful area but, I can tell you that although I am from Connecticut, Maine was still like tundra country in June sometimes. I just went up there a week ago, and spring was just coming around (as you can see) I had shorts because Washington, DC is 90, but, I froze my backside off with the 59 degrees I woke up to. LOL

Nevertheless, it is the breathtaking beauty that I love about it. Thank you for stopping by and leaving such a thoughtful comment.

Yeah, we have thought about going on our Spring Break, but I think the weather would just be too cold still to really enjoy it. I'd rather go in late Summer or Fall I think. Then you have to deal with all of the other weirdos looking at the colors changing :P. I remember Connecticut, it was a fun place. I specifically remember Mystic Seaport. I know, totally touristy, but as a kid it was cool. I also remember driving through New Hampshire and Vermont and the smell of the paper mills. Ugh. That smell will never leave my nostrils!

0

OMG!! Yes!!! I had a summer home in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and wouldn't you know it! Mead Paper Mill was up there! Almost worse than the paper mills? In New Hampshire, (My family had a summer house up on Lake Winnipesaukee)there were tanneries! Now THAT smell is with me to this day! Ugh!

Mystic is the least pretty part of Connecticut, but, lots of people like the Seaport. Even adults. I don't get it, but, probably because I lived there, although I lived down closer to NYC in Greenwich and Wilton. Vermont is where all my parent's friends lived. Yesterdays hippies.

You are totally right. You should go in the late summer because Fall is unpredictable. Some years, the leaf peeking starts at the beginning of September and sometimes later and you miss it. And hotels are at a premium. I like right now to late-summer best for seeing the beauty. Although, it is beautiful always and you can never go wrong.

Now you have me smelling the mills!

Oh, I hope you go before winter! It gets cold up there! I think you will want to spend a day in Bar Harbor when you go, it is such a nice little town and the people are awesome. The main part of town is surrounded by the town square, but, mostly centered on one of two long streets.

Don't forget to stop down by the docks and grab your lobster and have some coffee at the local coffeehouse where everyone in town goes, although there are only two tables! Everyone else stands and jaws awhile.

Don't expect any phone reception. Just saying. :)Have an awesome day!

My family has spent a lot of time in Maine, especially when we were growing up. I can honestly say that it is one of the most spectacular places to be. The many States have Grand Canyon and Caverns and Redwoods... but to be honest, Maine is beautiful, wherever you go there. From the forest to the mountains to the rugged coast.

I do love it. I know you will get there and honestly, you may be better off flying in and renting a car as the distance is great. (or you probably already do that! LOL)

Isn't that the truth? You know me so well. If it were perfection every single day... what is to fuss about. Right? Hope all is well with you!

Maine is beautiful. I love how the photos go from the hard rock to the most delicate plants.

It is that changeable, honestly. I love Maine too and spent many childhood hours up there.

Thank you for stopping by and I wish you a most wonderful day!

I was walking right along with you... .well... ok... I was actually flying along beside you, because walking that far makes my knee fuss. :)

Hehe! Makes your knees fuss!? Hey, that sounds like you should get those knees taken care of before you get long in tooth. Otherwise, I will have to come down there and pop wheelies with your wheelchair or have a walker race. :)

Oh, you can fly? So what is your superpower then? Thanks for taking the #wednesday walk with me!
