A few hours till official new year, 2020. We're talking California time zone here. We just went out to this POUR Taproom. A local owned and local fav hangout in downtown Santa Cruz. I myself have been there at least 3 times and I don't even live in the States so, I would say I go there quite often.. What's so good about it?
Hello there I'm Bryer! It's my first time at POUR Taproom
Single and ready to mingle
He really said so himself so whoever's interested, his detail will be in the description box below. On New Year's Eve, all the friends went out for a random concert and I didn't even care which one. Bryer chose not to go, instead, he came along and hung out with us! For the first-timer like Bryer, he quite enjoyed it.
Many types of beers on taps and they're all self-served. By that, once you walk into the place, they give you a wrist band and scan your credit card at the front desk. Every time you want any type of beer, you scan the wrist band, wait till the light turns green, pour the beer yourself. Once you're done, the screen will show how much does that pour cost and that's it! Enjoy the delicious pricey self-poured beer!
No kidding here, some of the pint could cost as high as $23 and as low as $5
The non-alcoholic like the rootbeer I got cost $4 a pint. By the way, I love the rootbeer! Not too sweet and it doesn't hurt my throat like any other pops.
Enjoy as many types of beer as you wish!

I know it's quite pricey compared to many other places but I think it has its own charms. You can probably try 30 types of beer all in one night little by little, sip by sip and think about it, where else would allow you to do that? Here you can! I normally would be dead by the 2nd pint because I got that famous Asian flush. Here, bit by bit, I tried like, 3 types ! and still survived since I had 2 sips a beer #lol
Also, that third one was just a rootbeer! #rotfl

Anyways, I think I found a very nice taste of beer I like just tonight. 2 of the POUR Taproom staff picks were lit! It says 'sour' and I went for it. It was pretty sour and hey, I love it, really.
Food at POUR Taproom, Santa Cruz
They have appetizers, sharable, the feast and desserts. The food gives the tapas feel.. or some American comfort food like sandwiches/burgers. We stopped by for some sushi beforehand so, we ended up getting just a few appies.
The pretzel with cheesy sauce ($8) and some spicy tots ($7). Their food is made fresh. What's supposed to be crispy is crispy and what's supposed to be cheesy is quite cheesy. I liked both of the POUR Taproom appetizers we ordered.
The beer made me a bit hungrier even after a big tray of sushi so, that big piece of chocolate cake was needed. Not bad of a cake at all. Not so moist the way I like it but the whole thing melted once eaten somehow.
Next time when in downtown Santa Cruz, feel like getting tipsy and maybe being cozy in a nice warm place with its open layout and community-style redwood tables, the beer hall is the perfect place to meet an old friend or make a new one.. POUR Taproom is totally not a bad choice at all.
Plus, It's sugar store is right next door so, that's fun!
