Natural warm summer shots!

No snow, as summer here in South Africa!

Thought to bring you warm nature photos to thaw your bones in the cold countries and to also transfix those in the hot countries with nature's beauty. There are some unusual shots here and a few others that we all know.
Come and relax here a bit at this post!

79rp85.jpg

The first photo and this one is of the famous Citrus butterfly. Difficult to get him as he doesn't sit and bobs all over the place!

upk5be.jpg

Here we have the biggest of the dragonfly species, the Blue Emperor (Anax imperator)

rd9i5h.jpg

The blue Emperor is so big that they cannot sit and rather hang from branches to carry their weight!

celu2z.jpg

Ah! Our miracle 24 hour flower popped open during the night, and here I will show you it's one day beauty!

qm8x2q.jpg

Look at this, such a beautiful wonder, and now at 6:26 pm it has already folded and is busy dying. Just a brief show of absolute beauty!

ljfk2g.jpg

No idea what this cactus-type of plant is, but it looks like Neptune's fork!

fbqxln.jpg

Here's a closer look at one of the tips, and I would hate to be struck over the head with something thorny like this!

e1em26.jpg

Bright early morning sunlight highlights the dragonfly at the left, and the web-string of some spider on the right!

yucwgq.jpg

Here is a closer look at the dragonfly with his starry wings!

ee1rpy.jpg

Some bug showing his aeronautical skills above the tree!

3szw4b.jpg

An Acraea basking in the early morning sunlight!

rz2vt5.jpg

Later in the afternoon, this Heron made it's way home over my head to the mountain!

pbyh5r.jpg

There he goes, and he will soon be home!

sv8fyu.jpg

This is the mountain that forms the base for most of the flyers in this area!

And That's All Folks!

Believe it or not I took all of these photos today and over here not one day is the same. All of the photos were also taken in our small garden and there's a huge variety available should one decide to venture further afield.
My secret if one can call it that is to find a suitable hidden spot and to sit and wait for an hour or two. Of course many a shot gets blurred in the sharp morning sun, but in between the shots I always strike paydirt.

We hope that you have enjoyed the pictures and thank you for visiting a post by @papilloncharity

Sitting quietly so much is happening around one in a garden, time, timing and patience is all it takes to see the world go by, splendid photography again Stephen.

Exactly Lady Joan, this place is filled with all kinds and one never knows what will pitch up next. The great thing also is that every day different animals appear. The thought is now to plant some more animal and insect bushes and plants. Let's see how it goes.
Blessings and thank you!

I am thrilled changing my plants to indigenous, attracting a lot more than we ever had before. Miss seeing fireflies and glow worms, the plentiful tree frogs and chameleons we once had, development is definitely changing many small things.

Things are indeed changing my friend and man has a big hand in the changes. Just read that another 13 poisoned vultures were found with their heads and feet missing. All for muti and export purposes.
We are really ruining this planet.
Blessings!

Howdy sir papilloncharity! What magnificent photos! Shooting up toward the sky and catching the sunlight reflecting on them is a wonderful effect. The dragonfly photos are always stunning, aren't they the most difficult to catch good shots of?

Thank you Sir @janton and patience is the name of the game with dragonflies.
I think that little guy has died since as the last shot that I got of him, a half of his one wing was gone. They get into fierce fights during the mating competitions.
Blessings!

Those mating competitions sound dangerous. And could be deadly!

They are known as ferocious fighters and they can rip each other apart my friend. Most of their fights are terminal.
Blessings!
