People who visit Ecuador cannot fail to know that the Monument in honor of the Middle of the World is one of the most visited places by local and foreign tourists. The country owes its name to that found in the equator, which divides the planet into two hemispheres: north and south. In this place, this tower of approximately 10 meters high was built in 1936, in honor of the French geodesic mission that 200 years earlier had located 0º 0 '0 latitude on these lands, then expanded to 30 meters high today, Which is the main attraction of the park.

The monument to the Middle of the World aims to highlight the exact location of Ecuador. Inside the monument there is a small museum that shows elements of the indigenous culture of Ecuador, such as clothing, descriptions of the various ethnic groups, and samples of its activities. There is a small city that surrounds the monument and functions as a tourist center, there is a line from the center of the stairs that faces east, crosses the square to mark the equator and is an activity to be photographed during this beautiful walk. This spectacular monument is made of iron and cement and is covered with carved stones and at the top it ends with a metal globe, which has the continents in relief. The orientation of the globe corresponds to the real position of mother earth and its rotation.
