Butterflies have been regarded as the symbol of beauty and charm. Butterflies is the second largest group of insects. Worldwide there are more than 28,000 species of butterflies with about 80 percent found in tropical regions. In Pakistan 5,000 species of insects including 400 species of butterflies and moths have been reported. The diversity of butterfly has a predominantly in Pakistan, well-adapted to a dry steppe climate and extreme cold temperatures in winter.

Common Windmill

The common windmill, is the most common member in Pakistan of the windmills genus, comprising tailed black swallowtail butterflies with white spots and red submarginal crescents.

Blue Pansy (male)

Junonia orithya butterfly with many subspecies occurring from Africa, through southern and south-eastern Asia, and in Australia. In Pakistan, its common English name is the blue pansy, but in southern Africa it is known as the eyed pansy. 

Common sergeant

The common sergeant, is a species of nymphalid butterfly found in South Asia and Southeast Asia.

Large Tortoiseshell

The large tortoiseshell or blackleg tortoiseshell (Nymphalis polychloros) is a butterfly of the family Nymphalidae.

Himalayan Queen Fritillary: No subspecies are listed under this species. This is given as the Queen of Spain Fritillary in most Indian books.

Large Silverstripe: Childrena childreni, the large silverstripe, is a species nymphalid butterfly. It was first described by George Robert Gray in 1831. Also known as the Himalayan fritillary, it is found in mountainous areas.

Pioneer white

The pioneer or pioneer white or caper white, is a small to medium-sized butterfly which is found in South Asia and Africa.

Indian cabbage white

The Indian cabbage white, is a butterfly in the family Pieridae found in India and Indochina.

Plain Tiger

Danaus chrysippus, also known as the plain tiger or African queen, is a medium-sized butterfly widespread in Asia, Australia and Africa. It  consume plants in the genus Asclepias, more commonly called milkweed.

Painted Lady

Vanessa cardui is a well-known colourful butterfly, known as the painted lady.
