Back in Town: A bit of Amsterdam

Being back in Holland also means being back around a lot of places where I haven't been in ages and doing all the touristy things again. Which rocks!

When most of the tourists come into the city, walk over the Dam, visit the Rijksmusuem and get stoned in a local coffeeshop, I normally just tend to visit the people the I know, who usually do not live in the city centre. Which means the all above mentioned spots are normally not the places I ever see, we just stay in the suburbs.

Canals everywhere!

But sometimes it is nice to enter the city as most people do, over Central Station and walking a bit to where you want to go and......

Then you decide how annoying it is again circling around everybody who is snapping pics on every corner and entering the anti rolkoffer zone, also known as anti carry on luggage zone.

Amsterdam has a an area where it is forbidden to roll around with your little carry on suitcase because of the sound that it makes on the streets, annoying the few people who still actually live here

But the funny thing about Amsterdam also is, when you walk two or three streets to the side from the most well known zones, it is actually quite relaxed as you can see in the picture above. Not too many people and still great strolls around the canals.

We ended up going to the foodhallen, a place where I have been before and have written about before, but I just really love the concept.

The concept: A central bar with all kinds of international foodstands around it. More info on this link from the website itself. Pics? That didn't work out this time, I will be a better blogger next time :D But this is worth visiting while being in Amsterdam as @iliasdiamantis can confirm as he went here once after my recommendation.

Amsterdam deserves more of my attention but this will be more in summer time with more time to stay and hang out. I will be back!

I love ❤️ Amsterdam: I've been there only two times in my life!

A huge hug from @amico! 🤗

I was born in Amsterdam and live there ever since.
The city I knew and loved seemed to have slowly vanished and turned into some sort of Disney Land.

A lot of the original inhabitants of the centre of Amsterdam, like myself, moved to more quiet parts of the city, to escape the ever growing tourism.....

That's how it goes.

Sucks to hear that that is reality ibdeed. I believe ya, it is almost hard to find an original amsterdammer and even more difficult to find one who still lives there. The hele grachtengordel is kind of a joke at the moment :(

Did you read the book "Grand hotel Europa" by Ilja Leonard Pfeiffer?
In a hilarious way he describes a lot of the tourism related topics ( of Venice, Amsterdam and other cities )
