Good things happen when you go down to the beach
I'm about to leave the island, Koh Phangan. While I might miss it, especially the daily jams on the Zen Beach, it's about time to leave; this is not a climate I'd like to do a lot of exercise. I like to leave excessive sweating where it belongs: sauna. Thus, staying in such a hot climate long-term would get me lazy - or sweating bucketfulls of my internal fluids.
"Go to an AC'd gym", you might say. I suppose that would have to be the compromise in my work out routine: no more calisthenics only in the park.
I'm not sure why I ponder such things though, because I can't see myself living here even though I really like the laid back attitude the place holds. I suppose it's the idle mind that easily starts to go down the trail of existential questioning of what it is doing at [insert whatever location]. This time I tried to ignore that whole message, because wherever you are, it's not good enough if you keep chasing the whatever it is you're chasing.
The obvious activities on an island are of course things like boat cruises and snorkeling and stuff like that. I already did those things with the Chang Steem crew though, and I couldn't foresee anything happening that would've beaten that, so I didn't attempt to chase those highs anymore. I guess I don't suffer from FOMO much nowadays, knowing that nothing in Thailand can no more beat the Steem crew when it comes to experiencing highs. Figures, since we only get to meet once a year (excluding local meetups).
The nice thing about the beach though was that every night was memorable despite not being crazy. One night after jamming, I talked to a lady sitting by the ocean. Turned out she owned a middle-Eastern restaurant where she provided me a damn fine meal out of generosity. I ended up talking about Steem and offered to make her an account. She thought it was a great thing we have going on, but wasn't interested in participating in it. Her loss :) It's alright though, because last night, I found, you guessed it - Steemians!

"A magical place", like the lady said whilst looking the blinking lights of a storm in distance, with a bongo beat in the background. Considering all that happened thanks to the beach, I must agree.
Ps.
I just looked up at the ceiling of the cafe and found something that really made me smile.
Well said, not sure if a working advice in Thailand though; chocolate is really expensive here: a pathetic peace in 7-11 was 105 baht ie. 3€ or so. That makes it much more expensive than in Finland. Probably because there's not a lot of demand for it anyway, since it is somewhat impractical in this hot climate where it melts in your hands right after stepping out the door. Has to be treated like ice cream to get it enact to the store.
