🥇 On the Trail of Benjamin Boyd by @betterthanhome

A visit to the Boyds Tower at the northernmost tip of the park should not be missed. Boyd commissioned the construction of a sandstone tower that towered over the entrance to the harbor in Twofold Bay. It was designed to alert whalers when the whales were approaching, but was never finished. However, the tower was successfully used for whaling despite everything ... unfortunately. While it´s only a short 1km walk to and around the Tower, there is lot´s of things to explore and learn and great views to enjoy. There is even a staircase that leads down to the so-called red point.

🥈 ENGAGE ON HIVE: Boats in the Philippines by @biggypauls

From fishing to tourism and inter island travel the Bangka boats are used everywhere, (also known as banca, panga, panca) they all share a similar construction. Originally they would have used dug out tree trunks but these days they are built with a timber skeleton frame with a plywood covering, one feature that has remained a constant is the outriggers which are giant bits of bamboo. For fishing small boats with one or two passengers are used adopting a single line method of fishing which although not massively efficient it has a relatively low impact on fish stocks, in some areas two boats will string a net between themselves which generates a larger catch.

🥉 GUIDE TO MAIN NATURE LOCATIONS IN VILNIUS by @wsetravels

“Three Crosses Monument” or “Hill of Three Crosses” are located on one of the highest old town hills just across the river Vilnelė coming from the Bernardine Garden. There is a legend that three crosses first time were built in 17th century by three monks who wanted to honor a group of fellow monks who were killed in 14th century. The legend says that 14 monks were killed, half of them were killed on spot and another half floated down the river Neris while being tied to wooden crosses. They had strict instructions to return to the west where they originally came from. However, this monument changed many times over time. The monument which you can find today was built in 1989.
