Visiting The Swamps of Louisiana

For many locals the swamps surrounding New Orleans are just a fact of life. A reminder that the flooding of the past won’t stay in the past but for tourists a visit to the swamps of Louisiana is a HUGE must. Not only do you get to see a unique biome, you get to see some pretty cool animals, ride around in some pretty nifty swamp boats and find out that swamps actually don’t smell bad(maybe I’m just an idiot). So without further ado here are a few cool shots from my trip to the swamps of New Orleans!

On any good swamp tour a few alligator sightings are a sure thing. The really good tours even use hotdogs on a stick to get some nifty gator action shots!

You’ll also see some wild hogs sitting out waiting for hot dogs. Somehow they’ve been slightly trained by the swamp tour companies. FYI this hog is called Oreo.

There’s raccoons too but these aren’t your typical black and white ones!

Some areas of the swamp will be densely forested with only narrow canals to boat through.

While other areas will be wide open, like any river. People even live along the banks!

If you’re lucky you might even see a Disney tree or to put it better a tree that inspired Disney. Look familiar?
