A quick stop - and some unfamiliar yet beautiful flowers of the "Buwakan ni Alejandra".
I am always fascinated by the beauty of each flower I see around flower shops, landscapes, or even on some random neighbors' garden. Not sounding gay though, I'm a fan of flowering plants whether ornamental or not. And, just looking at them makes me feel excited to touch them, to know their names and their smell if they have some aroma.
Just last month, together with my dear companion, we did a quick visit to the one of the famous tourist spots in Cebu, theBuwakan ni Alejandra. Located at the center-most of the province, this famous flower destination caters more than 100 species of flowers and plants. And you'll get to enjoy this flowery place with just 50 PHP as an entrance fee.
Their staffs offers free photo shoots for tourists who don't want to take pictures alternately of each other. Surprisingly, during our visit, their was a private photo shoot of a female debutante together with her very supporting family. So considering having some moments with your love ones in this place, why not give a time to visit? This is for sure perfect for your anniversary or family bonding and reunion.
So back to the purpose of this post, which is to share some beautiful pictures of flowers I took and that are very new to me, I want to share first this app I used to determine the names of those unfamiliar ones. Picture This, a useful app that helps user distinguish the real names of flowers and plants being uploaded or taken as a picture. This is not just a simple search tool/app, as it boasts its amazing features like determining the scientific classification of the plant, its use and economic value and some techniques on how to grow and groom well a plant. If you're botanically inclined individual, this app will be you best friend.
First on the list is the,
Bigleaf Hyndragea
These shrub can grow at height not exceeding to 2 meters. They are considered simple, membranous, orbicular to elliptic in shape. They bloom at summer so its better to plant them during spring season. They can only be propagated thru cutting and mound layering and its best to fertilize them once every 20 days.
Some interesting facts about hydrangea is the way it yields its color. It can vary into 2 colors and shades of colors blue and red. The differentiator of its color is the pH level of its soil. If the soil is acidic, it yields a color blue otherwise if the soil is more basic, it yields red color. So you might be thinking, how can I cultivate the said colors? Well, I have this idea of adding basic or acidic substance to soil by mixing it up to water. Maybe, milk for red and vinegar for blue? What do you think?
New Guinea Impatiens

From the name itself that means it is native to Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands, this floret belongs to the family of touch-me-not which also means that whenever you touch the ripe seed, it pops and blooms. They bloom during summer with the application of full sunlight and partial shade. They can only be propagated thru cutting. They need regular watering. And also, impatiens has various colors because they are usually hybridize to cultivate new colors.

Oceanblue Morning Glory
Oceanblues are noxious weed; they are invasive and has strong rampancy. It can change its colors and shades. They are also considered vine flowers as they wrap up other plants to compete for sunlight thus affecting the growth of other plants around them. Personally, I had some experience tasting the buds of this poisonous ornament when I was a child. It tastes really awful and bitter. It was a red morning glory and I think they differ in toxicity level that's why it nothing serious or irritating. It bears a heart-shaped leaves and rich purple funnel-shaped flower. It blooms during spring and blooms repeatedly and can last until autumn. It can only be propagated thru cutting and sowing.

Dahlia pinnata is a perennial herb plant that can reach a height of 120 cm to maximum of 160 cm. It also comes in different colors that are all gorgeous. The garden dahlia is the world-famous flower because of its appearance. It symbolizes best wishes, grace, nobility, generosity, wealth and happiness. No wonder it is the worlds famous one that you can see during weddings and grandiose occasions. It's best to plant this dahlias during spring time. It blooms during this season until autumn.
