Fisherhaven was established around 62 years ago and sits on the Bot River Lagoon, it is surrounded by farmland and nature reserve.

It has its own boat and yacht club on the lagoon that was originally used for sea going vessels to load facilities for the local sheep and cattle farmers. Today it has wild horses freely roaming the village streets due to breeding over spill from the nature reserve.

It is said that the horses here are descendants of horses hidden by local farmers from the British army during the Anglo Boer War. However true that is, we won't know. The horses are well looked out for by the Fisherhaven Horse Watchers Association to help protect them from us human beings (unfortunately some deaths do occur due to motor accidents). It is not uncommon to see them passing by the house, or hear there calls in the distance.

Or even for a quick pic! 😜

This little guy was bought in from the drive way to be shown to me, because, well.. How cute!! After which was returned safely back to the garden where we often see tortoises of all sizes, munching away on the plants and roaming free. More often than not you will hear them before you see them, walking around amongst the leafs etc, and by that sound alone you can bet it's a tortoise! :)

That's what I love about Fisherhaven, it's very in tune with nature and all its sweet sounds.

Quite often (well, I've been pretty slack of late) we go for roughly 6KM walks around Fisherhaven. It's lovely and peaceful with the sounds of the birds and sometimes the horses depending on where they are at the time. There's a lovely nature reserve that leads down towards part of the lagoon, and usually a very popular spot for bird watching.

❤️❤️❤️

Until next time!

Yes most definitely! Can get away with going on walks here as don't see anyone, but will be even nicer when all this nonsense is finished with!

Haha! I just had to include that snap, looks more like a fifth leg 😅
