The Best Place To Take A Cruise

It's estimated that more than 100 million people might be traveling during the December holiday season, if it's anywhere close to the number that traveled around this time last year.

For many who are going on vacation, beach vacations are still reigning supreme, while all-inclusive follow close behind, then cruises, city trips after that, and other options like hiking vacations, wellness vacations, ski packages, romatic getaways etc listing as less popular options.

In 2019, a variety of places have been listed as the 'best countries' to visit, including the United Kingdom, United States, Spain, France, Japan, Germany, and Italy. That's according to the World Economic Forum.

But there are many different vacation types to embark on.

It could be an RV trip, all-inclusive, cruise ship etc, and some regions are more popular for others depending on what type of vacation you might be taking.

For example, one of the most popular regions right now for an RV trip is said to be a park in northern Florida. And for cruises, the most popular destination title rests with Jamaica.

According to the World Travel Awards, Jamaica has been named the top cruise destination for this year not only in the Caribbean, but in the entire world it ranks at the top. This means that the destination beat other popular regions like Miami and the Bahamas.

The Port Authority of Jamaica celebrated the news and insisted that it is because of hefty investments into port infrastructure developments, billions of dollars going into the planning, that they have been able to claim this dominance in the travel market.

In 2017, it's estimated that almost 2 million cruise passengers had visited the island. Hundreds of cruise ships arrive every year to the various ports located in places like Ocho Rios and Montego Bay. Some of the popular lines that frequent this region include Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises, and others.

They know that tourism is a significant economic driver for the region and they hope to be able to increase capacity to be able to handle 2.5 million passengers or more by 2020.

For the 1.6 million passengers that came through back in 2016, it's estimated that they helped fuel an economic impact of more than $2 billion.

Pursuing their goal of becoming a premier cruise destination is not only helping to progress development for those port regions, but also creating more jobs for those in the region as well, they claim.

Tens of thousands of Jamaicans are employed in the cruise industry and today the tourism industry still contributes at least 25 percent or more to the GDP, that is expected to grow to more than 37 percent by 2025.

Aside from Jamaica, other popular cruise destinations that were nominated were: Argentina, Dubai, Lisbon, Mauritius, Miami, Seychelles, Sydney, Uruguay, and Stockholm. Jamaica has won the title of world's top cruise destination for 14 years in a row.

Other surveys have found places like Alaska, Budapest, and Avignon, to also rank at the top with travelers.

Hi @doitvoluntarily,
In 2020, the income from the tourism business in Jamaica will be at least 4 billion dollars. This is good money. I wish the Jamaicans good, generous tourists.

That cruise scene has quite a few followers. However I like boots on the ground. Mingle and you shall know.
