Colorful sunset over the Altantic Ocean and the Ponta Delgada Marina as seen and captured from Sao Roque, Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal. Officially, Sao Roque is a civil parish in the Ponta Delgada municipality but if fact, it just feels like another neighborhood of the town. I took this picture just a couple of days ago.

Manhattan Beach in Durres, Albania

When I left for the border crossing from Macedonia to Albania, it was already past noon. I had originally planned on hitchhiking to Berat, but my last ride of the day advised me to join him to Durres instead since it was getting dark and I would have a hard time catching another ride towards Berat. This is how I ended up at this beach resort town. It certainly was an interesting experience to see this side of Albania, but I prefer the less developed beaches further South.

This is a citadel with natural ivory over it which used to be an important place back in the 16th century but which nowadays represents nothing else but ruins and a cemetery for Saxons.

Rhine Falls, Swiss

An amazing example for the force of nature is located in the midst of Europe. The Rhine Falls in Switzerland have become a major tourist target, including a well made and maintained path and 2 big boats to gaze at the falls in wonder from below.

This is my contribution for today, it shows the village of Gerolding in the Dunkelsteinerwald. It is just about 30 kilometers from my home town Krems in Lower Austria, but elevated about 100 meters above the valley. On this day, it was foggy down in the valley but sunny in this area and I enjoyed a beautiful walk on the "Halterberg", the small mountain on the right side and had a wonderful view to the Lower Austrian Prealps.

Vrchlabi is called the vault in Krkonose. Its name means that it is situated at the upper part of the river Elbe. It is picturesque submontane town with 10000 inhabitants. From Vrchlabi the road steeply climbs into luxurious mountain resort Spindleruv Mlyn.

Winter is not over yet! Hiking out in the remote Scottish highlands where the land and weather is at its wildest for these islands. Remember to pack well and dress appropriately!IMG20200112WA0007.jpg

Lednice Chateau, One of the most beautiful castles in the Czech Republic. It located in village Lednice about 12 km from Mikulov in the South Moravian Region. The chateau has a large garden, full of various plant sculptures. Lednice formerly belonged to family of Liechtenstein, today it is owned by the state. In addition to the outdoor gardens are part of the castle and greenhouses with tropical plants.

Typical of European beaches, large stones on which bathers settle to bask in the sun. Not many people during my visit because it was a little chilly, but we still bathed with the magnificent view of an ancient volcano. How to resist the Greek Beaches?

Europe this way! Though first you need to conquer the Monte Colombina (1458 a.s.l.) peak, situated in Province of Bergamo, region Lombardy, Italy. As a reward, you will get spectacular views on the mountains and, in different direction, beautiful Lake Iseo. The photo was taken by old good Honor 9 :-D
