Passive Income

(Edited)
In the financial world, the term "passive income" is used for investments which earn dividends for the person involved without much, if any, additional work required on their behalf. There are quite a number of tokens available that can provide a small amount of passive income for token holders — staking CreativeCoin (CCC) can earn you more CCC, for instance. But this post will talk about three of the tokens that can earn you STEEM just by holding the tokens, no staking required.

Each of these tokens actually does something with the income received by the issuer of the token when they are purchased, and then a small percentage of the ROI from their project is returned to the token holders as a "thank you" for the support. I first became aware of this when one of these tokens was given to me as a gift and I saw what happened afterwards. I learned about the other two by networking with folks on the blockchain.

🔸 The @qurator project has issued the Q token which returns a nice dividend to both holders of the Q token as well as to those who delegate to their curation project. I have been pleased with the dividends so far, and probably will be increasing my participation in their project.

🔸 The @tipu project has the TIPU token which returns a dividend to token holders. The return is currently smaller than that of the Q token, but it is a cheaper token, too, so better for those without much liquid Steem to spend, or those new to the passive income concept.

🔸 The @solairitas project has the SOL token and seeks to construct a grid-tied solar/wind farm. Token holders are rewarded with upvotes from the project in lieu of dividends, but that is still a nice trickle of economic incentive while helping further a clean-energy project. Of course, the ROI on this token requires one to write posts, so it isn't as "passive" as the other two, but hey...

The following is a screenshot from my SteemWallet on @steempeak which shows a few of the returns:

The rewards might look small, but remember that I am only holding a few of the tokens for each project at the moment (10 Q, 15 TIPU, 40 SOL), and little bits add-up over time! All three of these tokens are available on the Steem-Engine exchange for anyone interested.

 😊

For the most part passive income on steem is too low to be helpful now. Nevermind it's a bad idea at this price to harvest it.

Auto curating is passive, but posting really isn't. Even then, it's hard for people to survive being busy on Steem. Maybe one day. Let's dream.

Passive income, that ultimate mid-life goal ;) All right, passive income that is enough. To what? Just live by? Or develop your own ideas?

We're getting there, right? Starting with 0.001 of 1% of what's enough.

Thanks for the clarification on these tokens. There are so many now it's hard to keep up.

Pretty Good info for a person like me. I have been wondering how this all works - with the tokens. Especially about if you have them, where can you see them, etc..
Thanks Again! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Wonderful post about investing within our ecosystem. Thank you for sharing it!

I will have to look in to investing in these projects. @solairitas looks extremely interesting for an old hippie tree hugger like me!

Did you know that if you post your investment-related posts on @steem.leo's frontend, STEEMLEO.COM they provide incentives as well? I like using @steempeak, but after checking out STEEMLEO.COM, I like it a whole lot!

Passive investment is great... however, for the crypto part of things... it is a touch risky as you don't know if the underlying asset is going to last longer than the sunk cost of investing into it in the first place! For crypto, I like to see the passive investment as a bonus rather than a reason to buy the tokens...
