Engaging and eggs

avatar

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I call bullshit on that as I believe them to be all equally important, even the between-meal snacks. Anyway, here's my breakfast today - The equal-most important meal of the day. I'm at my mid-morning haunt (café) enjoying a coffee (iced today, also pictured) and engaging on steem with you nutbags. (I say that with all due respect of course) 😂

Engagement: I wrote 445 comments on steem in last week's 7 day period, for a total of 67,666 characters. I know this as I am, as of recently, a part of @abh12345's engagement and curation league - Thanks Asher. If you're not involved, get yourself on it here.

I've been engaging and have come across a few accounts that I'm going to follow for their interesting content, interaction and the passion they show for what they write about. But on the flip side I'm constantly amazed that some still ignore my replies or send cursory, one word, replies back - It's like they just couldn't be bothered or something.

I get it, life is busy, but if one is taking the time to craft a decent post here and then fails to respond to comments, or provides only a simple "thank you"...Well, seems a waste considering that engagement is a key-factor here. I know I'm not a huge account but I'm pushing close to 20,000 SP and have a few great connections myself. I would have thought other's may be keen to engage with me considering the potential benefits.

Don't get me wrong though, I appreciate even a simple thank you, certainly, than nothing at all, but I see it as a wasted opportunity not to engage with a little more validity when a larger account connects. You know, ask a question in return, or at the minimum go and look at that person's blog and leave a comment there - Show you're interested!. That's how relationships form, and relationships is how one will drive their brand here.

In reality most people probably don't care enough about what they do here - I mean they care about their financial rewards and are happy to complain about lack of them plus, somewhat strangely, lack of engagement too...But in reality they're unwilling to put in the effort required to improve their position.

Anyway, I don't mind engaging a little and as a curator for @curangel I have the ability, and privilege, of curating work for upvotes and additional exposure for the author. I am content with my steem-journey so far; It started in June 2017 and with a lot of outward engagement. Some 14,000 replies, 12,000 comments and 1,330 posts later I'm still here, engaging and finding reward through doing so - Financial and other rewards to: Enjoyment for one.

I hope to see you around sometime. Now, back to my eggs.

Ok millennial! Just kidding, If I couldn’t pay my bills I’d still eat some avocado toast to cheer myself up

I don't understand this.

I see...Well, I'm a 50 year old with multiple properties who works in the real estate industry, so I can afford to eat avocado toast all day long fortunately. I'm probably as far from a millennial as a person could get.

Thanks for clarifying this.

I’m a millennial and I will tell you that avocado toast is not the reason I can’t afford a house but if I had to choose between the two it would be very difficult :-)

Ah I see. Well, there's many reasons why house affordability eludes people I suppose and they vary from city to city and country too. Mostly, lack of housing-affordabikity can be attributed to not having enough money because it's spent on other things. Pretty simple really.

I'm not sure why, or when, avocado gained the attention it seems to get...I just eat it and shut the hell up about it...Maybe the vegans started it.. They seem to love babbling on about whatever the fuck they eat, denigrating others for not doing the same. Just a suspicion though...

Good post mate, you have inspired and motivated me to engage and comment.

Breakfast is the first meal you have after breaking an long fasting period ( like sleeping for 8 hours) but if you’re not hungry when you wake up don’t eat.

When you do eat breakfast will be an important meal. What are your thoughts?

I agree completely with you. I actually fast a lot to be honest. I've heard it has great health benefits so I do it, as follows:

Breakfast (then fasting) - Mid-morning snack (then fasting) - Lunch (then fasting) - Afternoon snack (then fasting) - Get home from work snack (then fasting) - Dinner (then fasting) - Evening snack (then fasting) - Sleep (which is in actual fact fasting) - Breakfast...And then the whole fasting process starts again the next day.

It's a lot of fasting I know, however it seems to work well. 😁

Commenting (engaging) is fun for me...I like the banter (as above) and to be honest get more enjoyment from that aspect of it here than watching vote-values go upwards. Good luck with your engagement and commenting.

You should try my fasting regime as above...Might work for you.

Hehe all that fasting is making me hungry.

Using esteem now and getting notifications again, is it so hard to get an app to work properly ( looking at you partico)

Partiko is shit. Was ok but they stopped supporting it I think. So now, shit. I tried Esteem, didn't like it.

Hmm, now I'm hungry. Been fasting for 90 minutes. 🙈

What app do you use, or do you just go to the web page?

I like esteem, it uses the courier font for posts and comments, give me a warm feeling of nostalgia.

On my laptop I use steemit.com and also on my phone too. When Partiko were sending reply notifications I used that but now they have abandoned it (seemingly) i have decided not to use it. I still have it on my phone but will delete it shortly.

I just have a weblink on my phone and go to steemit.com these days. Seems to work.

That is a classic Australian breakfast right there . makes me fancy eggs on toast, which is quite easy for me to do considering I raise chickens haha. I agree with responding comments. it is kind of weird when you comment on someone's post and they never ever get back to you. Sorry about the weird grammar I am using text to speech and they still haven't figured out how to recognise that the full stop is a full stop not the words full stop as well as multiple other crimes

Love me some eggs and toast!!

I have to laugh at the people who complain about their progress and yet don't engage at all. I had one guy rage a while ago and say why am I not earning and I looked at his comments and despite posting 3-4 times a day hadn't commented out replied for 3 months, how is that for nuts!

hadn't commented or replied for 3 months, how is that for nuts!

It's retarded isn't it? I don't get it...They make excuses too: "Some people can't make conversation" or maybe, "It takes too long." Yeah ok, fair enough...Don't whinge then! If you're not going to make the effort stop complaining.

It's pretty clear that engagement is the way to go though. I guess people love their handout-expectation and think the steem-gods are going to shower them with steem. Not going to happen. They have more chance of getting an ET dick...Without the ET. That's right...Just dick.

Those eggs were legit man! I picked off the greenery (hate that rocket stuff - You may call it something different), but that toast, dem eggs...Legit. I'm in Christmas mode to be honest...10 more working days for the year...Struggling to find any motivation to do anything but attend that café. 😝

It's rocket here and I hate it too. Horrible aftertaste. Yeah those eggs looked fine. I am in Christmas mode too. It's making it hard to do anything other than enjoy food and life itself!

The excuses are pathetic. I have heard all manner of stuff. I just have to much going on, I'm so busy! Is the usual.

Just the same old people whining about why everyone else does better than them. Lol!

I'm the first to admit it's difficult to gain a presence here, I mean after 2.5 years I'm still a reasonably small fish from that perspective, but not putting in the hard yards isn't going to make it better.

You have that vile stiff there too? (Rocket) Gawd, it's terrible, and they put it on everything as if it's chocolate sprinkles. It's leshit, not legit. 😝

They do. I ain't no stranger to a salad leaf but it's always the one they stick on everything and I'm like aw, come on.

Every meal is important, and even snacks. The reason why breakfast is deemed the most important is because there is an extended fasting time while we sleep. The body still requires fuel to function and while at a reduced rate, is still burning that fuel while we sleep.

I've been seeing my doctor and dietitians a fair bit recently in an attempt to manage type 2 diabetes.
Upon awakening, the body starts looking for fuel and if it's not there it produces it's own, increasing the blood sugar levels. If there's some there (low G.I carbs from the night before) then the blood sugar levels stay stable until I can eat breakfast.

The breakfast pictured above looks quite healthy, a mixture of low GI carbs, healthy fats and protein.

As for engagement, it's something that I am working on. I always make an effort to reply to those who enjoy the content that I produce. I know that my content is not for everyone or at least, not everyone is going to see things the same way I do, but that's life.

As for leaving well thought out comments on other people's posts, it just takes that little bit of extra thought and few extra minutes to maybe brighten someone's day. I just hope this particular comment isn't all about me. :D

I've decided to enter that Curation and Engagement League you linked to above. I'm not sure how I'll go, but we'll see. It do love statistics.

Well done mate. It's a good way to track your progress weekly instead of guessing...Also gives @abh12345 something to do...As if he doesn't have enough!😝

I've been type-2 for 10 years so hear you loud and clear. I limit carbs and sugar plus do some exercise. I'm managing it well, my hbA1c levels I mean, just in this way. Of course, I fall off the wagon sometimes.

Good luck with your engagement strategy and the engagement/curation league.

Thanks for your comment.

Firstly nice breakfast looks healthy and it must have been delicious. Secondly I hear you about engagement with getting the conversation flowing but I often don't know what to replay on a comment like "nice post", "cool photos". In this cases I say thank you 😊 after all I am grateful

It was a taste sensation...Didn't last long though 😝

Yes, those "good post" comments are difficult to respond to. I sometimes write very long replies and, to my discredit, am sometimes snide in reply, but not too often.

Maybe for everyone of those comments you get head onto the NEW, all tags feed and find someone there to comment upon yourself. Your comment may be exactly what they need to make their day or even keep them around. Who knows huh?

Engage, engage and then engage some more. If you're not on the engagement league list follow the link in my post above and comment on that post that you would like to be included. It's as simple as that. @abh12345 will include you and then you can track your engagement weekly, with no effort (Well, loads of effort, just not your own.)

Thanks for commenting.

You are curator for @curangel? Oh wow! So nice to meet you and thank you 😊

Yes I am and I'm always seeking new things to curate. I go through hundreds a day, just to find 5-8 to promote.

Arugula...You mean the green leaves? We call it rocket here, weird I know. I'm not a fan of it.

Yes, eggs isn't a thing for vegans I guess, but I love some eggs in the morning. Not every day though. My eldest brother went vegan 2 months ago although I suspect it want last. We'll see. Takes discipline I suppose.

Anyway, thanks for commenting. Have a good weekend.

I can imagine it how time consuming it must be. I was trying curating for Curie, but that was even harder, since the older curators were way a head of us newbies, so I gave up.

Anyway, I hope your brother wont give up. I am vegan since 2011. If If he needs some new ideas he may visit my Blog. All the recipes are on Steemit, but I have them orgenize here Lena's Vegan Living Blog

Have a wonderful weekend and it's my pleasure 😊

mmm brunch time thats got me thinking, nice engagement, life is busy your telling me in the last 10 days we've had 3 cars on review an event a press launch and tried completing the Mk2 Golf engine conversion, mind you we always try our hardest to engage and post, this community is certainly getting stronger and people are gaining virtual friendships, which is good, thats's why we like cats, you know where you are with them, straight talking and will whap you if there displeased or disagree.

lol....those are really funny numbers sir galenkp..this is a comedy post right? lol. I'm just teasing. Hey, 20,000 SP! jeez, not exactly a micro account, holy kanoli! Did you invest in steem when you first joined?

It's totally amazing how bad the engagement is here. I've been chasing down people for almost 2 years, most of the time it's the only time they'll respond and many NEVER respond and even more have never once commented on my posts even though I faithfully follow and comment on theirs. lol.

What gets me are the comments that get answered with "Thanks!" after you thoughtfully read their post and ask questions about it. But they don't even answer the questions. I agree, most people don't care that much or have no time. You put it very well.

By the way, what kind of skimpy breakfast is that? I mean it looks filling but where's the protein? Enough protein there for an ant maybe.
Oh well, micro account janton signing off.

Did you invest in steem when you first joined?

No, only added a little over 3,000steem through investment, and that only in the last year.

I engage a lot mostly. Actually won the engagement leagues top spot last week with over 700 comments etc. Three weeks...10th, 3rd, 1st...Will be different this week as I will lose 2 days through being interstate in Tasmania.

I'be been fortunate to get a few decent followers, and I have posted on average 1.5 times for every single day I have been around. It's a lot of work as you know.

That doesn't look like a punishment at all! A while ago I had the most amazing breakfast in a cafe .. eggs benedict, was first timer for me, still thinking about going back soon to repeat that lol.

Engagement is definitely key, I have participated in @abh12345's curation league as well, I think it was last year somewhere that I was eager to get higher in the list, but then (like you said) real life things happen. My engagement starte do block me from writing posts, and I lost the balance..

I honestly appreciate people taking the time to leave a valuable comment, and I hope to leave those myself as well. But I admit, I fail to do so many times, especially when I notice engagement isn't high anyway. But yes, it's so much more rewarding to get valuable comments than only a nice reward because of good upvotes.

ps thanks for making me remember that egg breakfast, now I really need to go there soon as I start getting cravings for that again lol

Hey again. I've been in the curation league for three weeks...I came in 10th the first week, 3rd the second week and then 1st. It's a lot of work though. It just seemed to work out that I had the time to comment and reply in those weeks I guess and it's unlikely that those numbers will be sustained. The week I came 1st I wrote something like 750 comments - I just cant keep doing so...Although I am up to 450 in the last 3 days already so...Who knows?

I like engagement and so I comment and reply when I can, hopefully with some valuable words and thoughts and, try to ensure that every comment that comes into my blogs gets a reply. I think it's a simple courtesy.

Anyway...Eggs benny...Awesome stuff! I can't believe it was your first ever? I've had my fair share over the years...Even made it at home a few times.

I hope you get to have some eggs benny soon, to satisfy that craving.

Thanks for dropping by and leaving a comment. Greatly appreciated.
