9mm meditation

I don't know about you guys, but I've been feeling a little drained and flat in the last week or so. It seems no matter which way I turn I'm bombarded with virus-propaganda and some new reaction from around the globe; This is cancelled, that is cancelled, the stock market lost this much, that many people got the virus...It's endless. I need a break.

I was planning to work around the house, to start work on a new building project in my workshop, this Saturday but I find myself feeling the need to de-stress and shed some pent up emotion. I wrote about it yesterday, the fact I need to go camping, to poke a fire with a stick and gaze at some stars. That's not possible right now though, however one of my other great stress-relievers is...Shooting.

So, instead of engaging in something industrious in my workshop I'm going to the range to sling some lead downrange, shoot the breeze with some mates and find some relaxation.

I've been shooting for a long time and going to the range is something I've done hundreds of times. There's usually a bunch of people there, shooting bro's and bro-ette's, and because they're a different set of people to who I hang out with socially there's no pressure...We just chat, shoot and have some laughs. I think it's exactly what I need right now.

Life is full of pressures and complexities; Add in a worldwide pandemic and stuff gets crazy pretty quickly. All of a sudden people start stressing about whether they have enough toilet paper or hand sanitiser; People spiral out of control allowing the usual stresses to multiply and fear to take hold.

Not that I'm stacking packets of toilet paper, but I feel those pressures also, like others; Am feeling those pressures right now...The constant barrage of negativity I mean.

So, it's time to shoot...I don't know what it is, but I lapse into a different state of mind when I strap on my guns; Things seem quite simple...Draw, aim, fire...The noise. The recoil, the satisfaction of that loud ting as each bullet strikes the steel targets...I find it clears my mind.

So I'm shooting on Saturday but what are you guys up to this weekend? Are you stacking copious amounts of toilet paper, baked beans and hand sanitiser in the spare room? Are you sitting in front of a news propaganda service feeding yourself doom and gloom? Are you looking to de-stress in some way like I am? Tell me about it y'all.

Apparently concentrating on a target connects both sides of your brain and pushes out the mutterings of the subconscious. I get the same effect out of archery, it does feel like a form of meditation.

Hey there...So glad someone gets it! :)

I find it wipes my mind clear of everything except that front sight and getting that bit of lead to the precise point on that target I want it. From the moment that beep sounds and I move to draw my handgun there's nothing but the sight, target and trigger. It's cool and will clear my mind. After a few hundred rounds, some shit-talking with my mates and a beer and burger I think I'll be GTG for a couple days at least.

I hope you have a great weekend, and thanks for replying.

Make sure the shooting truly is while at the range, not when shopping for toilet paper.

Im just going to relax with friends I've not seen for a while, as I just traveled up north after the lockdown of Metro Manila was ordered.

If we're going to be locked down, and possibly face quarantine, I prefer being in the less populated province, with fresher air and no smog cloud.

Oh jeez, thanks for the reminder...Such an easy mistake to make! Lol.

Yeah, I hear you...You're much better off in a less-populated area. I didn't know they locked down Manila. I'm still getting over the fact the Australian F1GP was cancelled at the last minute.

I think we'll see some lockdown action here, but the government will be slow to act on it. It'll happen though,

I hope you have a good weekend with your mates...Put the feet up and relax huh?

Yeah the Australian GP is a bummer, but it was to be expected. There’s a good reason to visit the Singapore GP now this season. Probably not an option for me this year, but as soon as I can I will return.

Always a great time.

LEGO!!!

GET MORE LEGO, I do find that building stuff like that blocks out everything. So does playing guitar but if you aint got one and cant play thats not the most useful!

As if my wife needs you to encourage me to get more Lego...She'll be having words with you if she discovers you're egging me on! 🤣

Don't worry mate, I'll not tell her...I agree with you!

Lego actually cures Covid-19. It's a well-known fact.

World saved.

Thanks Lego.

HEhe, don't tell her!

If it's a cure I might be getting some more myself. Might be able to trade it for some fecking toilet paper.

Supermarkets here limit purchase-numbers of many items now, and the list of those items is growing. More and more shelves are empty of stock with none replacing it. After this virus thing is over no one will need to shop for a year!

Hehe, yeah. Then the supermarkets will go bust. They just be making a killing right now

They released statements about amendments to their change of mind returns policy adding a whole list of stuff to the excluded items so that people don't come back with 4000 rolls of toilet paper or hand sanitizer in a month for a refund so they can pay their rent. So they should too. You bought, so it's yours now...Too bad if you get evicted from your rental property. People are so dumb.

Oh man, that's really clever of them! I never even thought of that for a second!! They are one step ahead ;0)

Yeah, people are spending money they don't really have and many, probably, figure they can just take it all back after the virus threat is over and bob's your uncle, the money comes back. Well, how about not.

I think there's going to be a lot of unhappy people wondering where they'll find the money to pay rent, utilities bills et cetera. I guess they could always sell their toilet paper on the black market...Oh hang on, nope, there won't be a market for it as everyone has a years' supply already.

Action/reaction huh? We'll see how it shakes out, but the two big supermarket chains here, Woolworths and Coles aren't about to start handing back money for consumable items purchased then returned simply through a change of mind. That's quite clear.

There's so many elements at play here with this virus reaction huh?

It is going to be cold here this weekend so I am going to spend most of my time inside working on various projects.

Sounds good. We're coming to the end of our hot weather and it's cooling nicely. Only around 22 today so nice. Good weather for going to the gun range...Or panic-buying toilet paper! 😂

I hear you. I think many are trying to work out the same. It's all very unclear at the moment. To be honest I think it will get worse before it gets better. Good luck.

Ahh my favourite gun of yours XD

Hope you have/had a good time shooting :) Anything related to my project will usually de-stress, if I need to actually relax then it has to be drawing, the repetitive motions are calming :)

I made it to the range as planned, shot 300 rounds and felt a lot better for it. Sunday is unplanned at the moment...I want to find something normal to do...Not sure what that means these days though. Hope you have a good one.

Howdy sir galenkp! I don't have any need to de-stress because I have no stress but I can understand the therapeutic effects of shooting that's for sure!
