Feet firmly back beneath me after my epic vacation, I am here again this week to get preachy again this week! Positivity is best when shared and reflecting upon impactful statements helps us deliberate how we can learn from them. #thoughtfuldailypost is the tag we like to use and @thoughtfulposts is the curation account to whom we have delegated to boost its power to reward thoughtful posts.

Practice

No author on this one as it is a photo of a poster but seems fitting for my musically-inclined friends. Very much along the lines of the recent conversation with my little ones covering the value of being able to enjoy sucking at something.

Practice, get better, and everything seems to improve in a nice cycle that repeats itself. There are other factors besides improving with practice when it comes to having fun but what a nice pattern to settle into. As with many worthy journeys, it is taking that first step which matters most. Then keep going.

Apparently, some people get good enough that they don't feel the need to practice.

Teach

This is some pretty heavy word porn when you are a parent. Almost makes me regret saying "you don't get what you want when you cry" to my little ones. While not wanting to raise a couple complainers, I have to make sure they know emotions are worth verbalizing. Somewhere down the line, they can append that wisdom with spending time stewing over the solution rather than the problem and we will be onto something!

Work

We have come a long way in the direction of appreciating and being okay with who we are. While it is essential to happiness to be comfortable in our own skin, I believe we can be too comfortable. Progress is often made outside of your comfort zone and if you refuse to go there because, "that's just how I am," what is won besides comfort?

Not "I guarantee I will conquer that" per say, but being willing to work on it is the first of the steps it takes to get there. I am willing to be wrong and learn. I am willing to work on that.

Not sure why I love Bruce Hornsby so much but that's just the way it is.
