This world is in serious trouble. The core values ​​of the United States and other Western nations are gradually weakening. The principle, the sanctity, the integrity, and the religious value of religion — the foundations of civilization and the clear ingredients of peace and happiness — are continually being lost. I will share with you as simply and clearly as I can the pattern of success and happiness in life despite these circumstances.

God has given you the ability to believe so that you can find peace, joy, and purpose in life. However, to exercise its power, that faith must be based on something specific. There is no stronger foundation than the love Heavenly Father has for you, faith in His plan of happiness, and faith in the willingness and power of Jesus Christ to fulfill all of His promises.

Some of the principles underlying faith include:

• Trusting God and His willingness to help when needed, no matter how difficult the situation.

• Keeping His commandments and a life that shows He can trust you.

• [Feels easy] on subtle promptings of the Spirit and resolutely follows its impressions.

• Patience and understanding when God lets you suffer to grow and when answers come one at a time.

It will help you understand and use the power of the interplay of faith and character. God uses your faith to mold your character. Character is gradually shaped by doctrine, principle, and obedience. The personality will tell you what your destiny will be. Your personality is the standard God will use to determine how good you are in this world. Strong morals are the result of the right decisions during the trials of life. Such decisions are made with confidence in what is believed and, when made, will prove to be true.

The Good Person

When you reach that level of understanding and come to the uncertainty of your faith, you will find solutions to life's challenges that you will not otherwise have. No matter how strong your faith may be, God will not always grant you your desires. Instead, He will gradually respond to what is best for you according to His eternal plan. Your continued faith will strengthen the character that you can use in times of great need. Steadfastness is not formed in moments of great challenge or temptation. It was used at that moment.

The foundation of character is integrity. Being good will enhance your ability to recognize the direction of the Spirit and follow it. A strong personality is more important than your possessions, your wisdom, or your goals. Your constant faith strengthens your character. On the other hand, strong character expands your ability to believe, thus increasing your ability and confidence to withstand the trials of life. This strengthening will continue, because the more you become stronger, the more you will be able to exercise the power of faith.

Wherever you live, whatever your occupation or purpose in life, you will be a part of the war for the souls of men and women. Be valiant in that war. It can be overcome by the stability of your character. Satan and his armies have shown their character by being in direct opposition to our Father's will and consistently breaking His commandments. Your character becomes firmly established by always choosing the right. Your whole life will be rewarded for your efforts to choose the right.

Satan or any other power cannot undermine or destroy your established being. Only you can do that by disobedience. That is why Satan is so good at tempting you to make decisions that will undermine your character. Satan is very good at making choices that seem attractive and reasonable. So be careful. At this crucial time in life, you will be faced with many choices. The decisions you make will greatly affect your life now and for eternity. Do it wisely and prayerfully.

Making Decisions Based on Eternal Truths

There are two ways to make life decisions: (1) decisions based on circumstances and (2) decisions based on eternal reality. Satan is motivated to make choices based on circumstances: What are others doing? What seems socially or politically acceptable? What will give you the fastest and best response? That method gives Lucifer a great opportunity to tempt someone to make decisions that are harmful and destructive even when they seem to be having fun making the decision.

This way there are no underlying values ​​or standards that will always guide decisions. Each decision is made based on what seems like the best choice at that moment. One who chooses this path cannot rely on the Lord's help but is left to his own strength and to the strength of others who want to help. Sadly, most of God's children make this decision. That's why the world is in turmoil.

The Lord's way is for His children to make decisions based on eternal truth. It requires that your life continue to be centered in the commandments of God. Therefore, decisions are made based on consistent facts with the aid of prayer and the guidance of the Holy Ghost. In addition to your own strength and ability, you will enjoy divine inspiration and power when needed. You will see clearly what you will do and it will bless the lives of all those you influence. You will lead a meaningful life with purpose, peace, and happiness.

There is no guarantee that life will be easy for anyone. We grow and learn faster by facing and overcoming challenges. You are here to prove yourself, to grow, and to prevail. There will always be challenges for you to think, to make correct decisions, and to act righteously. You will grow from them. However, there are some challenges that you will never have to face. These are the ones associated with serious sins. If you continue to avoid such tragedy, your life will be simpler and happier. You will see others around you who do not make that decision, who do things that are wrong and bad and that cause unhappiness. Thank your Heavenly Father that your life is different and that you have been helped to make decisions by the guidance of the Holy Ghost. That clue will keep you on the right path.

The gospel teaches us to make decisions based on eternal truth. Don't allow yourself to make an exception to that pattern in life to gain a temporary and seemingly attractive opportunity or to take part in something you know is unworthy. I have seen many young couples and individuals who make big mistakes in life because they follow the wrong course. They stay away from true principles because they are tempted to compromise a little to gain influence, status, or acceptance. They give reasons for such deviations and argue that eventually greater good will be realized. Ultimately, that kind of lifestyle will take you to places you really don't want to go to.

Continue Your Determination

How do you maintain your resolve to live worthily? How can you be sure that determination in your heart will not be influenced by the influences around you? If you are lucky to be married, be happy with your spouse and children. Don't be so secretive with each other. That is the guarantee of continued good and happiness. Decide things together.

Keep the light of the gospel burning in your home through scripture study, prayer, and other things you know to do. Honor and live temple covenants as you receive them. Always read and study the revealed word of God. Hold fast to His word. Keep the Sabbath day holy. In other words, keep doing what you know you should do. Wherever you go, stay tightly connected to the Church and always serve in it. If you do not already have a spouse, follow these guidelines as appropriate.

As God's special child, you are indispensable. There is an urgent need for more men and women like you to uphold the principles against the growing influence that compromise those principles. Men and women need to act honorably and with courage for what the Lord says is right — not for what is politically correct or socially acceptable. We need people with spiritual and moral influence who will encourage others to live honorably. We need lawmakers with integrity, honest and morally sound businessmen, lawyers who defend justice and the justice system, and government officials who will uphold the principle because it is right. Above all, we need fathers and mothers to maintain the sanctity and safety of home and family integrity where faith in God and obedience to His commandments are taught as the foundation of a meaningful life.

You can be an integral part of that bright light, of that good influence to uplift the morals of your country and its homes. Many of your friends live for temporary enjoyment only. They do not understand the need for principles, eternal laws, and truth. They are brought up in an environment where decisions are based on current circumstances or opportunities open to profit. Show them a better life — the better way. There are some things that are wrong because God declares them wrong. Truth is not determined by what people think, no matter how influential they may be. The truth was decided by Almighty God before the creation of this world. The truth will not change forever.

Ah, happiness may be temporary because of power, influence, or material wealth, but true and eternal happiness, which is felt in the morning when you are truly honest with yourself, can only be achieved by following the teachings of God. You must be honest, honest, chaste, holy, and willing to give up something attractive — though it may seem desirable at the moment — for the greater good of the future. What I mean is that we are willing to sacrifice everything as necessary to keep true principles.
