Keeping the peace

This is not supposed to be the scheduled post that I had in mind. But somehow, I had been inspired by @samminator's steemit post. This is the link folks: https://steemit.com/life/@samminator/for-the-sake-of-mercy

A point may come in your relationship with others when you will realize that it is far better to be kind than to be right. Being kind is without recourse to who is right. If being right will cost you your acts of kindness, then you need to have a rethink.

There had been moments in my life when I have to apologize not necessarily because I am wrong by omission or commission but for the sake of the keeping peace. I understand that it is not always easy for anyone to admit that they are wrong especially when one knows that they are on the right side. The thing is, a part of apologizing to someone is not necessarily about admitting you're wrong. For the sake of keeping the peace, it is sometimes essential to apologize to help someone move on. Some people fixate on being right. Its not about the details of the circumstances. Its about being RIGHT to them.

It is very sad that others will even go into extents like spreading "their side" of the story to gain sympathy and the upper hand in any conflict. Which is why I often apologize not necessarily because I am right but, to maintain the peace. When others ask me, why do you do that? Why is it not a priority to be right?

Well, I am old. Its easier to be at peace than being right all the time.

The truth shouldn't be different for different people... because if it is, then someone is probably twisting it. 🤣

it just happened that some people cannot take the truth. As they say, if people cannot understand, that's their problem not yours! hahahahaha

@nurseanne84

Thank you for your post. We certainly need to pay attention to how we speak and, especially so, in the presence of our loved ones. It's something I have to remind myself every time I feel an argument brewing.

It can be hard to shut up especially when I was younger. I always feel the need to defend myself and be on the right side. But, as I grew older, its not that important anymore. Keeping the peace seems to be a priority these days.
