🎲Game Night!🥋

At The Request

of a few little princesses, we have started doing a 'family game night' every Saturday when we can. Prior to that (and these pictures are actually a couple weeks old), Luna wanted to go out in the woods today. It was pretty funny, just her and I. We were sitting on the edge of a river bank on a tree that grew out over the water and heard some rushing. She whispers,"what was that??" I had no idea, but it was a heavy crew.
We decided to quietly meander up river and get a better view of what was behind the thick briar brush. She says, "Oh my God Dad, it's just a bunch of cows." And then we both started laughing. She enjoyed carrying around her binoculars and peering up in the trees at various critters. We had several squirrels chattering at us and what kept her attention most, was a little red-headed woodpecker up above us. It seemed to follow us around. No deer though. At least, not today.
After dinner (and yes, we had venison), all three girls were pumped to get this whole game night thing underway. We didn't make it through one game though, before a slightly ill Khaldeesi decided that since she wasn't winning, she was going to pout and quit. Before the second game got over, it ended up being just Luna and I. So, I decided to teach her to play War. We got about half way into the game and the other two came back upstairs and wanted play again.

We'll get the hang of it eventually. I think the most frustrated was Mommy - even though she won the first game. But, we had fun and then I had to wrestle for 30 minutes against 3 not-so-weak little princesses before bed. That's become the norm now for the past few days since it's cold outside. However you decide to beat your cabin fever - REMEMBER TO BE YOU! I always am, even when getting kicked in the throat.

Game night is a wonderful, positive tradition to start and one the princesses will continue doing as they grow up and have families of their own!

Heck, we still gather round the kitchen table during the holidays and play games when my husband's side of the family visits!🃏💫🃏

You brought back fond memories of the little ones for me tonight...pouting, attempted cheating, loud voices, giggles and screams of delight!🙇‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Attempted cheating LMAO! Ya, there was a bit of that. Funniest was Freya, who is just learning to count so she would skip like entire lines on the board and then jump up to the top winner's square and say "I WIN!" like every time. Think that's what was pissing off Khaldeesi the most :D

Next stage to look forward to is "challenging of the rules" where each child plays fine until imminent loss is on the horizon and suddenly everyone starts bending and breaking the rules which were never 100% followed or explained in the first place...looking for mercy in the rule book and reading how to officially play the game on the inside lid of the box the board game is stored inside! @enginewitty 😀😂🤣
