What do you know: Federer finally broke the 4-year jinx.

In the post They live to clash again, I did share my thoughts on Federer and Djokovic with none as my favorite, but there were pointers as to who could win.

Looking at the game and then the result, it is clear Federer went in for blood and he got it... after 4 years of fruitlessly chasing a win.

With this win, Federer will be locking rackets with Tsitsipas in the semi-finals on Saturday afternoon. Federer is the last man standing of the top 3 (Djokovic, Federer and Nadal).

The Swiss who jumped and roared like not seen in a very long time, finally got "his day in court". He was competitive and he needed that win or else, he will fizzle into retirement with Djokovic as a torn in his flesh.

My Thoughts.

I was shocked to see a Federer playing like a newbie trying to prove a point. In fact, that is what he has come to be in the face of Djokovic who just knows how to put him tears.

I would have expected Djokovic to win but, after his loss to Thiem, I knew something was off and was so sure he was not going to win the semi final against the Swiss.

I think Djokovic needs to take a step back and reaccess his play and maybe improve on it where needed.

He wasn't too confident against Federer as weak seen in Wimbledon months ago and now, the results shows he wasn't. Now, Federer can retire in peace if he so chooses to.
