The slice of pizza to die for - Artichoke

'Huh? Artichoke? You mean by the vegetable?' was my first reaction to hearing the name of the restaurant. Not to be fooled by it ever again, Artichoke has been one of New York's go to places for a slice of unforgettable pizza moment. Situated among the low rise buildings, Francis Garcia and Sal Basille, family by blood and best friends, opened their first Artichoke store in 2008 and have garnered gradual increase in popularity as a must visit place for a decent slice of pizza.

We stopped by for a slice, literally, around mid afternoon to find ourselves not having to stand in line to try one of New York's finest slices. The rave was really too much to not try before our departure. Artichoke's most popular slice is the 'Artichoke' pizza. Made from Artichoke Hearts, Spinach, Cream Sauce, Mozzarella, and Pecorino Romano Cheese, this hearty slice is another dimension of taste.

Busy as can be, the store was not packed, but deliveries were constantly being made. But our order was sent straight through, and in a matter of seconds we were placed with one humongous slice.

All the other menus were also available. But my mentality for visiting new restaurants is to always try their most recommended, and most famous menu first hand.

The two hollowed out slices from the pan was our order. From this image alone, the sheer size of the pizza is incomparable to any other object to see just how big a slice is.

One paper plate is not enough to hold up this monstrosity of a slice. Very generous in the size, and in the amount of topping. Way more vegetables and artichokes especially compared to their website's image. It's amazing how the slice maintained its triangular shape despite being warmed up.

Each bite is crunchy as the pizza dough keeps its form, and entirely creamy with a tang of artichoke. The best slice of pizza ever tasted and to ever hold.
