Milan Punjab - Nice, affordable menu and quick service

I am flying out of Mumbai for a while and will no longer be working in Lower Parel area. So I decided to meet my friend who works nearby, with whom I have explored many places in the area, for lunch. I went to his office and outside that was this restaurant Milan Punjab.

The inside was typical of a Maharashtrian lunch place. Nothing punjabi about it. The place was quite vacant for a weekday, and during lunch time. It was good for us. We got a table immediately and were handed the menu - a simple two page affair with lots on it -

We opted for vegetarian dishes and ordered household favourites - Aloo Gobhi and Daal Tarka. We asked for whole wheat flatbreads aka Chapati with it.

The place had nice natural light from outside and had 2 rows colums of seating -

The place was nice and clean. Even the area for washing hands was clean.

The food was brought to us inn 5 to 10 minutes, guessing that since there were many people, ours was the only order to make.

Aloo Gobhi

This was really good, not at all spicy, and was cooked in a pan, with minimal oil. Also, it had no gravy and tasted as good as Aloo Gobhi made at home.

Daal Tarka

Beautiful mix of spices in this one and all spices were added to perfection. I squeezed some lemon into mine after taking it our in the small bowl on the plate and the lemony flavour just made the dish absolutely phenomenal. I usually like adding lemon to any Daal I have, except Daal Makhani

Chapati

I had 3 and my friend had 4, they were little oily for some reason. However, Chapatis were nice and soft and with decent portion size for both Daal and Gobhi, I could eat 3. I usually eat a lot of vegetable with each bite so an average person can have 4 with the food available and being shared between 2.

After we were done, we asked for the bill. Cash and Card, both payment options were available. The bill was just INR 265 or ~$4. Damn cheap! Food was super, portion size good. This is a solid place to eat lunch.

I will rate it 4, on a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being best.
