When Chinese shops are closed or too expensive

On the first day of Lunar new year, usually people will be struggling trying to find place to eat out. Even if there's a Chinese shop you can find operating, I can almost guarantee you the food will be sub par and price are marked up for the special occasion. Fortunately! Malaysia is a multi national country! In the event of Lunar new year holiday, we have Indians and Malays around. Ex-girlfriend suggested why not we go to the authentic Indian shop for breakfast. It will be cheap and cheerful compare to expensive Chinese shop and packed with Chinese people!

Immediately I grab a plate and start clamping down my fried noodle. I knew they're good as I've tried this shop before. And I also grab a piece of Indian donut(more like a spicy version of bagel). Note that LazyMom reflection is on my spoon! She's also eagerly waiting to try my noodle! A special note to my reader, grab your own plate and scope your own food. Beware of portion, you know your appetite. If you let them grab for you, you'll probably complain if they give you too much.

You will be asking, why would I post a fried egg photo for you? Dude, this is one egg! One egg and they spread it across the huge frying pan, so it can cook in very short time and at the same time the heat will be spreading across the entire egg surface! Egg can be tasty as this and my junior find it mind blowing, how can egg taste different here!

Came the Rawa Thosai, which is LazyMom's preferred breakfast. It's a sort of rice flour pancake with Indian recipe, also consist of onion and carrot slices. It's very crunchy and tasty as I tasted a little from her, but I prefer the Selvam Restaurant from Malacca better than this one if talking about Thosai. This Thosai is less sourish compare to others. Less of an authentic taste, but good for a fusion lover.

Roti cenai, a very well known rice pan cake, taste like pastry if you ask me to describe. It's plain, but you can taste a lot of butter taste in them. Here's a little heads up and tip for you, they usually have a container premake several pieces of these pastry in there, when needed they will pick one up and reheat them and serve. They usually offer you to cut it and serve, be sure to say no. Ask for SQUARE ROTI CENAI, we call it ROTI EMPAT SEGI to ensure they make a fresh one for you.

And the boy nordered an egg roti cenai, the egg pastry version. It's the same like the one introduced above, but this one mixed with egg.

Restaurant is clean, and environment is alright. Do take note, it's not air conditioned. So, it's kinda warm, and you do not want to smell like BBQ when going to meet your friend. So, be sure to speed in speed out.

Take a look at this shot, it's finger licking good. Both big and small friends are enjoying it. Also take a look at what's happening in the background? A Chinese man and Indian man sitting at the same dinning table for breakfast, and looks like having an interestingi topic there.

The fried egg is so good, even the big junior wanted another one for herself!

LazyMom took things her own hand, even herself grab a plate and start clamping down rice noodles, but according to her comment, those who did good in fried noodle, their rice noodle are less competitive. They can only excel in either one. After further discussion, we decided it could possibly be due to the thickness of the noodle and the rice noodle. Those who did good in noodle, because they know how to cook thick noodle, but they will usually overcooked a rice noodle because they're very thin.

LazyMom got herself a cow's milk tea and I have my condensed milk tea. They're already sweeten, but if you have a strong taste bud, you may wanna add more sugar to them. To me, they're just nice and I enjoyed them very much.

Junior gets each of their own a cup of iced Milo, a malt chocolate drink by Nestle if you have to know it. I didn't say anything about health, they're supposed to be energy drink that is good for the kids, and also very addictive for big kids like me.

And after so much of food and drinks, the bill came to RM20.40. Dude, that's less than $5! Taste is marvelous, easy to find parking, best of all, good for festival season like this where all the Chinese shops are either closed or heavily marked up, Veventhan Restaurant does just the magic you're long looking for.

Thanks Joel. We do have our own challenges here, and luckily enough we managed to take down the dictator before he could do further harm to the country. I did a lot of studies on your country, but ofcourse I know it's nothing compare to living there by myself. I've seen documentary at some places even when you have money, there's not enough food to sell or not enough clean water to cook.
