#SublimeSunday - Let's Go Tubing!
.jpg)
I made sure to get out on the weekend for a few reasons and had a #sublimesunday post all teed up. Then, the rest of Sunday happened, then a crazy Monday, and we are closer to #Wednesdaywalk than #SublimeSunday. Might as well take the walk downtown and get a little of #MarketFriday in the mix!
Here we trek into a winter wonderland amidst a modified lockdown in search of fun for the whole family.

Tubing!

I walked in on one of my little ones in the middle of a week of remote/computer school and she had a sad look on her face. "I just wanna visit someone." My 'dad-of-the-year' pedigree kicked into gear as a heart-felt plea like that can't be denied. I know.....Tubing!

I know of a place only 20 minutes drive that we have visited a few times successfully in the past. A lodge, piles of candy machines, cafe, and a couple hills of good tubing! I had seen an advertisement about them being open despite the lockdown and a visit to their website showed no availability on the weekend. DOH!

You can tell by the images you are seeing that I was successful in reserving the first available spots when they opened up the second hill and more availability. Dad to the rescue.

A reasonable investment of $27 plus tax gets you 90 minutes of all you can tube and it is bookable online. It is great to se the kids be kids and they are of an age I can just let them frolic on their own while I hang out with @davedickeyyall

I really have to get in the habit of turning @actifit on again for the walking posts. We managed to cram a whole grocery shopping trip in while they were tubing and spent a while walking around the grounds now that we were out.

Despite it being -13 Celsius (That equates to FUCKIN COLD in Freedom Units,) the parking lot was full but it really didn't feel crowded at all. Scarfs and masks kept all the chins warm and people healthy and active. 90 minutes doesn't feel like long enough for the kids so make sure you arrive early to get every minute in and perhaps linger around for an extra trip or two.

Market Friday

I did get a chance to hit downtown and walk a bit in the market. There is a really neat lighting display that I have to revisit. I will head there Friday and put together a proper tribute for #MarketFriday post

Ice cold tubing? That looks fun as hell.
Yah man the rubber hardens and you get some serious speed. Hence the slowdown strips at the end.
Tubing looks good. Sorry to hear you found it too cold to enjoy.
Oh I enjoyed it alright! Just using the cold as my excuse for enjoying things from the base of the hill.
As a great white north hoser, I have learned to find joy in the snow!
I agree with your definition of -13 lol
Glad you were able to be super dad and get your kids out having fun
Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)
Man, that tubing on the snow looks like insane craic altogether!! I went tubing in Laos back in the late 2000s, they basically drive you 15 km up a mountain, give you a tube and you float down the river to Vang Vieng... Along the way there are riverbank bars where they intice you to stop for a drink. We made many stops 😅
Oh shit that sounds like my kinda tubing!
Let's do that when Hive reaches $10 and we are back in travel mode!
Tubing sounds cool and so much fun for the kids.
Let me think about a post into that direction.
