Photos Taken Of and From The Whitaker Mill Road Bridge
Today, I'll be showing off some photos that I took of and from the Whitaker Mill Bridge. My photos were also taken at different times of the year.
The bridge is a Bowstring Truss bridge and is located at the intersection of Whitaker Mill Road and West Ring Factory Road in (Bel Air) Harford County, Maryland. A Bowstring Truss has an arched beam that is joined at each end by a straight beam. The "bow" being the arched beam and the "string" being the straight beam.
The bridge runs across the water of Winters Run which is an almost fifteen mile long river in Harford County, Maryland.
It's a one lane bridge without any parking on the road of either side of it so all of my photos were taken from the vehicle that I was in.
I would love to explore the wooded areas near Winters Run but there is no access to it that I know of. As you can see from some of these photos, there are no trails. It looks like there are some properties near the water but again no trails along the water.
This next photo was taken after we had quite a bit of rain and the water was high and looks muddy. We passed the water of Gunpowder Falls in a couple of areas and they were muddy looking as well.
This is the way that we (family) normally take when we visit my in-laws. I tend to get more photos of the bridge on the way back as we can see a little sooner if there is anyone on the other side getting ready to cross. Here is a photo from the incoming side but please excuse some spotting as the windshield was spotty.
This is the curve just before the above photo and you have to stop just around this curve to see if anyone is coming in the opposite direction.
I do see a lot of boulders below the bridge, in and by the water, even though they aren't as close up as I would like to see them.
This is my last photo and I love this one! I can't quite put my finger on it but it just has a kinda' flare to it! Lol..sorry..you know I just can't help myself! 😁

laners left, but most have been replaced now and harder to get down
to the water back where I grew up. Awesome to see the different
