Making my sons YouTube video

Here is a behind-the-scenes of setting up and shooting a video for my sons YouTube channel!

My son has always been inspired by challenge videos on YouTube, especially ones with random spinning wheels or dart boards that have different choices etc - so we made something from scratch this morning and filmed this afternoon!

It was all thought up entirely by my son (6) and then planned, made, and shot in one day.
He was buzzing about it and he was full of great ideas. It’s been a brilliant way to spend a day, doing a project.
I want to be able to do this every day but it does require a certain level and energy and commitment that can sometimes be lacking from me, considering I have two you kids!

Today during the project we learnt about fractions by dividing up the circle and then we learned about using a template to draw around to produce identical ‘slice’ shapes!

Once we made the target and the sign, we gathered all the props that we would need for the challenges.

For example; if your dart landed on a blue segment - you got splashed by a water gun!
If you landed on a yellow it was truth or dare!
If you landed on pink, you had to try a weird food combo... we had cheese curl crisps with Nutella!

You get the idea.

We set up the cameras on the grass outside and shot it all in about 20 minutes on two GoPro cameras. Nice and easy.

For the darts, we used a Nerf gun and sellotaped drawing pins to the end of the foam darts.

It worked scarily well and the dart sticks perfectly in to the cardboard, just like a real dartboard.
We had to keep a close eye on the kids using them safely on the ‘range’.

We also got all the neighbours involved in the challenges and it was a total hit!
They loved shooting at the target many hours after filming.

We’re all big kids really, aren’t we?

Now, it’s time for the edit :)
I’ve got some cool ideas cue western music 😎

Cheers for reading, @ashtv
