ROYAL MAIL why hath thou forsaken me??

I received a little bit of bad new yesterday, on my birthday of all days too..

So this is just an explanation and an APOLOGY to my #secretsanta as to why you're still waiting on your Christmas gift.

Like a good little boy I wrapped my gift and sent it through the post. It was wrapped in the cheapest of Christmas paper, all neat and tidy, and even had a bow too!

I filled in the customs declaration in my usual thoughtful way - "metal paper weights and commemorative metal trinkets".... Well that was my first error!!

I don't know if the fine folks over at the RM have my address marked, but this isn't the first time I've had my packages "RANDOMLY" stopped and searched by them. The last one was heading to Canada and was then labelled by them - restricted for flight, and so had to take the slow boat. Luckily, over a full month later, it did arrive with its intended recipient, but still they hate me.

Check out that stupid story HERE

So I've been wracking my brain try to work out why I keep getting all this bad luck when I come to sending items through RM.

I've also got a great story about a parcel I'm in the process of trying to send to @raybrockman, but I'll keep that one for another day.

But for now, let's take a look at the reasons why my parcel has been returned:

So what RM are saying is:
The act of checking and opening up my parcel was completely random, but after checking the contents they find that it was sent incorrectly!

I needed to pay MORE is what it boils down to......

FML!! Who ever came up with this #secretsanta idea needs to be shot. The cost for international postage is high enough as is, and now they want me to pay (not only again) but extra??

#secretsanta, if you're reading this (and you know who you are), I'll repackage it all up and get it sent back to you ASAP. It probably won't be as festively wrapped as last time, but I promise you this, it will definitely make it this time.

It know is easier to ship fireworks from Poland than to send some harmless coins. That said on the mainland Europe there are no issues at all.

I'm going to try and send it out again this week, so hopefully it will make it this time.

It’s weird, when we did the steem round contest I was looking up mailing restrictions for different countries and actually saw in most places you aren’t allowed to mail coins and precious metals.
Lucky for you, your local post office seems to be the only place that checks.... 😕🙃

Well I hope I have some more luck this time and I hope @summertooth my #secretsanta knows how much I love him now....

I can understand the insurance issue, but simply not allowed to ship PMs/coins blows my mind

I am sure @summertooth your secret Santa can feel your affection from across the globe.

Maybe next time call the contents “holiday baubles/ornaments” 🎄.

Good luck!

Is it just me or did they leave out 'Thermal Nuclear Device' off the Prohibited list.

I have one of them laying around in my shed somewhere. Maybe I should send 2 packages to my #secretsanta and see which one arrives.

Dang, that is getting a little crazy! One cannot ship a coin? Like you mentioned, it sounds like the "Random" search is not so random. Sorry for all the bad luck and happy belated birthday @welshstacker.

I've had coins delivered from the Royal Mint, so coins are allowed... It just seems my coins are not allowed to be delivered internationally!

I’m surprised after opening the package they weren’t drooling over the Silver!🤔

I've had problems before where sticky fingers have meant missing coins in the post. I'm happy everything came back to me.

Wow that’s bad, and of course you don’t have any other way to mail .....
Can you send packages starting from another friend, to try to avoid this?🤔

RM is going to be on Santa's naughty list for sure next year! I hope they leave the next try alone so whomever received their present.

Definitely on the naughty list. Unfortunately they kind of have me over a barrel as far as posting this abroad go. If flights weren't so expensive, I'd hand deliver it to my #secretsanta myself.
