BREXIT!! The country might fall apart, but at least I'll be making some money
Over 3 weeks ago I wrote a little blog about how BREXIT may be a coin collectors dream, well now, with only 3 days to go, more details have been released about the "BREXIT" coin.
The gentleman holding the new Brexit coin is Sajid Javid, chancellor of the exchequer, and its been third time lucky as he finally unveiled the new 50-pence coin, commissioned to celebrate the UK’s departure from the European Union. Mr Javid, who is Master of the Mint, was given the first batch of coins and will present one to Prime Minister Boris Johnson this week.
The coins bear the inscription "Peace, prosperity and friendship with all nations" and the date of 31 January.
The "Brexit coin" has already been pulled twice from going into circulation when the country missed two proposed dates for leaving the EU, 29th March and 31st October.
Over a million coins had to be melted down last year, after the 31 October deadline came and went and the UK still remained in the European Union. Going back even further, the original 1,000 prototypes were scrapped when we didn't leave the EU on the original exit date of 31 March.
However, collectors and Brexit fans will be able to get our hands on the coins on Friday. The mint will release about three million Brexit coins into circulation on the Friday when we leave the EU at 11pm, with a further seven million to be added later in the year.
As part of the launch, the Royal Mint will open its doors for 24 hours, on Friday, to let people strike their own commemorative Brexit coins.
As you can guess interest in this "one-off" tour and experience is high, and I've already booked myself on several tours that day to get as many coins as possible.
Those of you who are especially keen to get your hands on one of these coins, can book a unique tour online.
Simply by doing a quick search of eBay, these "strike your own coins" are already being sold for in excess of £70, and this is before the tours have started.
On a side note, this new 50 pence piece is not the UK's first coin relating to Europe, there was also this 1973 monstrosity to celebrate the UK first joining the European Economic Community..... Some coins are best forgotten!
If, like me, you have an interest in coins or precious metals, then feel free to reach out and join our merry band of stackers here on steemit. The #steemsilvergold community are always here to answer any questions you may have, no matter how silly you think the question may be.

I couldn't bring myself to even hold one. If I get one in my change (if I have the misfortune to have to come back to the UK for any reason) it'll be going to charity!
I'm guessing you're not a big fan of the result? I personally don't think anything will change, I suppose only time will tell.
Rather than send them to charity, you could always send them my way.
For me its going to change: British citizen living in France. Still don't know which rights we will kepp, and which we will lose... 😢
Edit: one of the big rights we will lose is the right to vote for our local council. You need to be an EU citizen to be on the register
That doesn't come in to effect from December 31st 2020. The government has gi en themselves a full year to work out a deal. The deadline for final widthdrawl agreement is July 1st??(could be wrong).
If an agreement can be reached, then all existing rules will carry on as they are now. Did that make sense?
I would like this coin to go with my 2019 Germania & Britannia silver coin.
My heartiest Congrats To Great Britain for finishing the job.

I hope it's not too much drama for you. Have fun getting those coins!👍
If it is a coin, where is the value? I can see the words on one side and the ashamed Queen's face on the fake other side. What is the real other side?

The "fake" queens head is meant to be a joke. My guess would be that it's just the 5th portrait of Liz
I wonder if you could livestream it....
Although you are free to photograph and record in the gift shop, your are not allowed to on any tour.
That's a shame.
We already miss the Brexit debates. It was great entertainment but finally you get what you (i.e. the majority of the voters) voted for. Are there any people who now have to leave the Island?
Good luck my friend. Remember, too much noise will alert the zombie hoards and boil your water before drinking. See you on the other side (probably).

The world could go to shit, and us silly buggers will probably still be trying to make steemit work by posting daily.
